\q Is it not Shomron? \q And what are the high places of Yehudah? \q Are they not Yerushalayim? \q \v 6 Therefore I will make Shomron like a rubble heap of the sadeh, \q and like a place for planting a kerem \add (vineyard)\add*; \q and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, \q and I will lay bare her foundations. \q \v 7 And all the pesilim thereof shall be beaten to pieces, \q and all the etnan \add (temple proceeds of cult prostitution)\add* shall be burned with the eish, \q and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate; \q for she\f + \fr 1:7 \fr*\ft i.e., Shomron\ft*\f* gathered of the etnan \add (wage)\add* of a zonah, \q and they shall revert to the etnan \add (wage)\add* of a zonah. \b \q \v 8 Therefore I will weep and wail, \q I will go barefoot and arom \add (half-naked)\add*; \q I will wail like the jackals, \q and mourn like the ostriches. \q \v 9 For her wound is incurable; \q for it is come unto Yehudah; \q it is come unto the sha'ar ami \add (gate of my people)\add* \q even to Yerushalayim. \b \q \v 10 Declare ye it not at Gat, \q weep ye not at all; \q at Beit L'aphrah \add (House of Dust)\add* roll thyself in the aphar \add (dust)\add*. \q \v 11 Pass ye on your way, thou inhabitant of Shaphir, \q in nakedness and shame; \q the inhabitants of Tza'anan dare not come out. \q Beit-Ha'etzel is in mourning; \q it withdraws from you its support. \q \v 12 For the inhabitant of Marot waited anxiously for relief; \q but rah \add (evil)\add* came down from \nd Hashem\nd* unto the sha'ar Yerushalayim. \q \v 13 O thou inhabitant of Lakhish, \q harness the merkavah to the swift horses; \q it was the reshit chattat \add (beginning of sin)\add* to Bat Tziyon; \q for the transgressions of Yisroel \q were found in thee. \q \v 14 Therefore shalt thou give shilluchim \add (parting gifts)\add* to Moreshet-Gat; \q the batim \add (houses)\add* of Achziv shall be a deception \q to the melachim of Yisroel. \q \v 15 Yet will I bring HaYoresh \add (The Heir, the one who takes possession)\add* unto thee, \q O inhabitant of Mareshah; \q the kavod Yisroel shall come unto Adullam. \q \v 16 Shave your head in mourning \q for the children who were your delight; \q make yourselves as bald as the nesher \add (vulture)\add*; \q for they are gone into the golus from thee. \c 2 \q \v 1 Hoy \add (Woe)\add* to them that devise aven \add (iniquity)\add*, \q and plot rah \add (evil)\add* upon their mishkavim \add (beds)\add*! \q At ohr haboker they carry it out, \q because it is in the power of their hand. \q \v 2 And they covet sadot, and seize them; \q and batim \add (houses)\add*, and take them away; \q so they oppress a man and his bais, \q even a man and his nachalah \add (inheritance)\add*. \q \v 3 Therefore thus saith \nd Hashem\nd*: \q Hineni, against this mishpochah do I plan a ra'ah, \q from which ye shall not remove your tzavarot \add (necks)\add*; \q neither shall ye walk haughtily; \q for an et ra'ah \add (time of evil)\add* it is. \q \v 4 In Yom HaHu shall one take up a mashal against you, \q and lament with a doleful lamentation, \q and say: We are utterly ruined; \q He \add (\add*\nd Hashem\nd*\add )\add* hath changed the chelek of Ami \add (my People)\add*; \q how hath He \add (\add*\nd Hashem\nd*\add )\add* removed it from me! \q To the shovev \add (faithless, apostate)\add* He \add (\add*\nd Hashem\nd*\add )\add* apportions our sadot. \q \v 5 Therefore thou shalt have none that shall divide \q for you the land by lot in the Kahal \nd Hashem\nd*. \q \v 6 Preach ye not, they preach; \q but if they\f + \fr 2:6 \fr*\ft \+nd Hashem\+nd*ʼs nevi'im\ft*\f* do not preach concerning these things, \q kellimot \add (disgraces, reproaches)\add* will not be turned back.\f + \fr 2:6 \fr*\ft \+xt Ezek 3:18\+xt*\ft*\f* \q \v 7 O thou that art named Bais Ya'akov, is the Ruach\f + \fr 2:7 \fr*\ft Hakodesh\ft*\f* of \nd Hashem\nd* angry? \q Are these His doings? \q Do not My words do good to him that walketh uprightly? \q \v 8 Even of late Ami is risen up as an oyev \add (enemy)\add*; \q ye pull off the cloak from the garment \q from them that pass by securely as men averse to milchamah \add (war)\add*. \q \v 9 The women of Ami have ye cast out from their pleasant homes; \q from their ollalim have ye taken away My glory l'olam. \q \v 10 Arise ye, and depart; \q for this is not the menuchah \add (the place of rest)\add*; \q because of the tameah \add (defilement)\add* that brings sore destruction. \q \v 11 If a man, walking after the wind and sheker, do lie, saying: \q I will prophesy unto thee of yayin and of strong drink; \q he shall even be the mattif \add (preacher)\add* of Am HaZeh \add (this people)\add*. \q \v 12 I will surely assemble, O Ya'akov, all of thee; \q I will surely gather the She'erit Yisroel; \q I will put them together like the tzon of the pen, \q like the eder \add (flock)\add* in the meadow; \q they shall throng with people. \q \v 13 The one who breaks through comes up before them; \q they break through, and pass through the sha'ar, \q and go out by it; \q and their Melech\f + \fr 2:13 \fr*\ft Moshiach, \+xt Hos 3:5\+xt*\ft*\f* goes before them, \q and \nd Hashem\nd* at their head. \c 3 \q \v 1 And I said: \q Hear, O Rashei Ya'akov, \q and ye Ketzinim of Bais Yisroel. \q Is it not for you to have da'as of Mishpat \add (Justice)\add*? \q \v 2 Who hate the tov, and love the rah; \q who tear off their skin from off them, \q and their flesh from off their atzamot \add (bones)\add*; \q \v 3 Who also eat the flesh of Ami, \q and flay their skin from off them; \q and they break their atzamot, \q and chop them in pieces, like for the pot, \q and like the basar within the caldron. \q \v 4 Then shall they cry unto \nd Hashem\nd*, \q but He will not hear them; \q He will even hide His face from them at that time, \q because of the evil way they behaved themselves in their doings. \b \q \v 5 Thus saith \nd Hashem\nd* concerning the nevi'im that make Ami err, leading them astray, \q the nevi'im that bite with their teeth, and preach: Shalom! \q And whoever putteth nothing into their mouths, \q v'kiddeshu milchamah \add (they sanctify war)\add* against him. \q \v 6 Therefore lailah shall be unto you, because of the chazon; \q and choshech shall come upon you because of the soothsaying, the divination; \q and the shemesh shall go down over the nevi'im, \q and hayom shall be dark over them. \q \v 7 Then shall the chozim \add (seers)\add* be ashamed, \q and the kosemim \add (diviners)\add* blush in bushah; \q yea, they shall all cover their safam \add (mustache)\add*;\f + \fr 3:7 \fr*\ft i.e., their lips\ft*\f* \q ki ein ma'aneh Elohim \add (for there is no answer of G-d)\add*. \q \v 8 But truly I am full of ko'ach \q by the Ruach\f + \fr 3:8 \fr*\ft Hakodesh\ft*\f* of \nd Hashem\nd*, and of mishpat, and of gevurah \add (might)\add*, \q to preach unto Ya'akov his peysha, \q and to Yisroel his chattat.\f + \fr 3:8 \fr*\ft \+xt Isa 53:5,8,12\+xt*\ft*\f* \b \q \v 9 Hear this, I pray you, ye Rashei Bais Ya'akov, \q and Ketzinim of Bais Yisroel, \q that abhor mishpat, \q and twist kol haYesharah \add (all the right, the straight)\add*. \q \v 10 Boneh Tziyon b'damim \add (they build up Tziyon with blood)\add*, \q and Yerushalayim with avlah \add (iniquity)\add*. \q \v 11 Her Rashim judge for a bribe, \q and her kohanim play the hireling moreh \add (teacher)\add*, \q and her nevi'im are fortune-tellers for kesef; \q yet will they lean upon \nd Hashem\nd*? And say: \q Is not \nd Hashem\nd* among us? \q No ra'ah will come upon us. \q \v 12 Therefore because of you, Tziyon shall be plowed as a sadeh, \q and Yerushalayim shall become a rubble heap, \q and the Har HaBeis\f + \fr 3:12 \fr*\ft HaMikdash, i.e., the Temple Mount\ft*\f* shall become a mound of scrubs. \c 4 \q \v 1 But in the acharit hayamim \add (the last days)\add* it shall come to pass, \q that the Har Beis \nd Hashem\nd* shall be established \q as the rosh heharim \add (chief of mountains)\add*, \q and it shall be exalted above the hills; \q and amim \add (peoples)\add* shall stream unto it. \q \v 2 And Goyim rabbim shall come, and say: \q Come, and let us go up to the Har \nd Hashem\nd*, \q and to the Beis Elohei Ya'akov; \q and He \add (\add*\nd Hashem\nd*\add )\add* will be moreinu of His drakhim \add (ways)\add*, \q and we will walk in His orkhot \add (ways)\add*; \q for torah shall go forth from Tziyon, \q and the Devar \nd Hashem\nd* from Yerushalayim. \q \v 3 And He shall judge among amim rabbim, \q and \nd Hashem\nd* will be mochiach \add (arbitrator)\add* for Goyim atzumim afar off; \q and they shall beat their charavot \add (swords)\add* into plow blades, \q and their khanitot \add (spears)\add* into pruning knives; \q And Goy el Goy \add (nation against nation)\add* will not take up cherev \add (sword)\add*, \q neither shall they learn milchamah \add (war)\add* any more. \q \v 4 But they shall sit every man \q under his gefen \add (vine)\add* and under his te'enah \add (fig tree)\add*; \q and none shall make them afraid; \q for the mouth of \nd Hashem\nd* Tzva'os hath spoken. \q \v 5 For Kol HaAmmim will walk \q every one b'shem Elohav, \q and we will walk b'shem \nd Hashem\nd* \q Eloheinu l'olam va'ed. \b \q \v 6 In Yom HaHu, saith \nd Hashem\nd*, \q will I gather that which is lame, \q and I will gather those which have been thrust out, \q and those that I have afflicted; \q \v 7 And I will make that which is lame a She'erit \add (remnant)\add*, \q v'hannahala'ah \add (and that which is far removed)\add* a Goy atzum \add (mighty nation)\add*; \q and \nd Hashem\nd* shall reign over them in Har Tziyon \q me'attah ve'ad olam \add (from henceforth, even for ever\add*). \b \q \v 8 And thou, O migdal eder \add (tower of the flock)\add*, hill of Bat Tziyon, \q unto thee shall it come, \q even the hammemshalah harishonah \add (former dominion)\add*; \q the mamlachah \add (kingdom)\add* shall come to Bat Yerushalayim. \b \q \v 9 Now why dost thou cry out aloud? \q Is there no melech in thee? \q Is thy yo'eitz \add (counselor)\add* perished? \q For pangs have taken thee like a woman in labor. \q \v 10 Be in pain, and labor to bring forth, O Bat Tziyon, \q like a woman in labor; \q for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, \q and thou shalt dwell in the sadeh, \q and thou shalt go even to Babylon; \q there shalt thou be rescued; \q there \nd Hashem\nd* shall redeem thee \q from the hand of thine oyvim \add (enemies)\add*. \b \q \v 11 Now also Goyim rabbim are gathered against thee, \q that say: Let her be profaned and desecrated, \q and let our eye gloat over Tziyon. \q \v 12 But they have no da'as of the machshevot \nd Hashem\nd* \add (thoughts of \add*\nd Hashem\nd*\add )\add*, \q neither have they binah \add (understanding)\add* of His etzah \add (divine plan)\add*; \q for He shall gather them like the sheaves into the threshing floor. \q \v 13 Arise and thresh, O Bat Tziyon; \q for I will make thine keren \add (horn)\add* barzel \add (iron)\add*, \q and I will make thy hooves bronze; \q and thou shalt beat in pieces amim rabbim; \q and I will devote unto \nd Hashem\nd* as cherem their ill-gotten gains, \q and their wealth unto Adon Kol HaAretz.\f + \fr 4:13 \fr*\ft T.N.
