\s1 I am writing this to you people of God in Ephesus, asking that God will bless you.

\s1 We should praise God for having chosen and redeemed us, having revealed his plan to unite all things under Christ, and causing Christ to rule over all his people.

\v 4 \w Before|strong="G4253"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w* created \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w world|strong="G2889"\w*, \w he|strong="G2532"\w* \w chose|strong="G1586"\w* \w us|strong="G2249"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w be|strong="G1510"\w* \w his|strong="G1722"\w* \w people|strong="G1510"\w* \w because|strong="G1722"\w* \w of|strong="G2532"\w* \w our|strong="G2532"\w* ◄relationship \w with|strong="G1722"\w*/union \w with|strong="G1722"\w*► Christ, \w in|strong="G1722"\w* order \w that|strong="G2532"\w* \add God could consider\add* \w us|strong="G2249"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w be|strong="G1510"\w* completely holy [DOU]. \w Because|strong="G1722"\w* \add God\add* loves \add us\add*,

\v 6 \w He|strong="G3739"\w* \w did|strong="G3588"\w* \w it|strong="G3739"\w* \w in|strong="G1722"\w* order \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \w we|strong="G2249"\w* \w would|strong="G5485"\w* \w praise|strong="G1868"\w* \w him|strong="G3588"\w* \w for|strong="G1519"\w* acting \w very|strong="G3588"\w* kindly \w toward|strong="G1519"\w* \w us|strong="G1519"\w* \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w a|strong="G1519"\w* wonderful \w way|strong="G1722"\w* \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \w we|strong="G2249"\w* \w did|strong="G3588"\w* \w not|strong="G3739"\w* deserve. \w He|strong="G3739"\w* \w did|strong="G3588"\w* \w it|strong="G3739"\w* \w because|strong="G1722"\w* \w of|strong="G5485"\w* \w our|strong="G1722"\w* relationship \w with|strong="G1722"\w* \w his|strong="G1519"\w* beloved Son {\add one, who is also God, whom he\add* loves}.

\v 7 \w When|strong="G1722"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* blood \w of|strong="G1223"\w* Christ \add flowed when he died\add* [MTY], \add it was as though\add* \w he|strong="G3739"\w* paid \w a|strong="G2192"\w* price \w to|strong="G2596"\w* \w free|strong="G1722"\w*/\w save|strong="G2192"\w* \w us|strong="G1722"\w* \add from the guilt of our sins\add*. \add That\add* ◄\add provided a way/made it possible\add*► \add for\add* \w God|strong="G3588"\w* \w to|strong="G2596"\w* act \w very|strong="G3588"\w* kindly \w toward|strong="G1722"\w* \w us|strong="G1722"\w* \w to|strong="G2596"\w* forgive \w us|strong="G1722"\w* \w for|strong="G1223"\w* \w having|strong="G2192"\w* sinned.

\v 11 \w Because|strong="G1722"\w* \w of|strong="G2532"\w* \w our|strong="G2532"\w* close relationship \w with|strong="G1722"\w* Christ, \w God|strong="G2532"\w* \w has|strong="G3739"\w* \w also|strong="G2532"\w* chosen \w us|strong="G1722"\w* \add (inc)\add* (\w OR|strong="G2532"\w*, \w us|strong="G1722"\w* \add (exc)\add* Jews) \w to|strong="G2532"\w* receive \w what|strong="G3739"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* \w has|strong="G3739"\w* promised \add to give\add* \w us|strong="G1722"\w*. \w He|strong="G2532"\w* \w decided|strong="G1012"\w* long ago \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w do|strong="G2532"\w* \w that|strong="G3739"\w*. \w It|strong="G2532"\w* \w was|strong="G3588"\w* exactly \w what|strong="G3739"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* planned. \w He|strong="G2532"\w* accomplishes \w everything|strong="G3956"\w* exactly \w as|strong="G1722"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* plans \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w desires|strong="G2307"\w*,  
\v 12 \w in|strong="G1722"\w* order \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w we|strong="G2249"\w*(exc) Jews, \w who|strong="G3588"\w* confidently expected \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w Messiah|strong="G5547"\w* \w to|strong="G1519"\w* \w do|strong="G1510"\w* great \w things|strong="G3588"\w* \w for|strong="G1519"\w* \w us|strong="G1519"\w* \w before|strong="G1722"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* non-Jews expected \w such|strong="G3588"\w* \w things|strong="G3588"\w* (\w OR|strong="G3588"\w*, \w we|strong="G2249"\w* \add (inc)\add* \w who|strong="G3588"\w* \w were|strong="G1510"\w* already confidently expecting \w Christ|strong="G5547"\w* \add to do great things for us\add*) \w will|strong="G1510"\w* \w praise|strong="G1868"\w* \w him|strong="G3588"\w* \w for|strong="G1519"\w* \w his|strong="G1519"\w* greatness.  
\v 13 \w You|strong="G5210"\w* \add Ephesians\add* \w also|strong="G2532"\w* heard \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w true|strong="G3588"\w* \w message|strong="G3056"\w*, \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w good|strong="G3588"\w* \w message|strong="G3056"\w* \w about|strong="G1722"\w* \w how|strong="G1722"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w* saves \w you|strong="G5210"\w*. \add People\add* \w put|strong="G2532"\w* \w their|strong="G2532"\w* \w seal|strong="G4972"\w* \w on|strong="G1722"\w* something \w to|strong="G2532"\w* show \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \add it belongs to them\add*. \v 14 \w The|strong="G1519"\w* Holy \w Spirit|strong="G3588"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w* \add like\add* [MET] \w a|strong="G1519"\w* ◄deposit/down payment►. \w That|strong="G3739"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w*, \w he|strong="G3739"\w* ◄guarantees/assures \w us|strong="G1519"\w*► \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \add we will receive\add* \w all|strong="G3588"\w* \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \w God|strong="G1519"\w* \w has|strong="G3739"\w* promised \w to|strong="G1519"\w* \w give|strong="G1473"\w* \w us|strong="G1519"\w*, \w at|strong="G1519"\w* \w the|strong="G1519"\w* \w time|strong="G3739"\w* \w when|strong="G3739"\w* \w God|strong="G1519"\w* \w will|strong="G1510"\w* \w give|strong="G1473"\w* \w to|strong="G1519"\w* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* \w who|strong="G3739"\w* \w belong|strong="G1510"\w* \w to|strong="G1519"\w* \w him|strong="G3588"\w* [MET] everything \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \add Christ\add* freed \w us|strong="G1519"\w* \w to|strong="G1519"\w* receive. \add God also assures you that you belong to him\add*, \w in|strong="G1519"\w* order \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \w you|strong="G3739"\w* \w would|strong="G1510"\w* \w praise|strong="G1868"\w* \w him|strong="G3588"\w* \w for|strong="G1519"\w* \w his|strong="G1519"\w* greatness.   
\s1 I thank God for your faith, and pray that you will understand more about how powerfully he works on our behalf, just like he did when he caused Christ to become alive again and made him ruler over everything.

\v 19 \w And|strong="G2532"\w* \add I pray that\add* \w you|strong="G2532"\w* \w will|strong="G5101"\w* know \w how|strong="G5101"\w* \w very|strong="G2532"\w* powerfully \add God helps\add* \w us|strong="G1519"\w* \w who|strong="G5101"\w* \w continue|strong="G2532"\w* \w to|strong="G1519"\w* \w trust|strong="G4100"\w* \add in Christ\add*. \w He|strong="G2532"\w* \w works|strong="G1411"\w* powerfully \w for|strong="G1519"\w* \w us|strong="G1519"\w*  
\v 20 \w just|strong="G2532"\w* like \w he|strong="G2532"\w* acted powerfully \w for|strong="G1722"\w* \w Christ|strong="G5547"\w* \w when|strong="G2532"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* caused \w Christ|strong="G5547"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* become alive \w again|strong="G1453"\w* \w after|strong="G2532"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* \w died|strong="G3588"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w put|strong="G2532"\w* \w him|strong="G3588"\w* \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w place|strong="G1722"\w* \w of|strong="G1537"\w* highest/greatest honor [MTY] \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w heaven|strong="G2032"\w*.  
\v 21  \add There\add*, Christ \w is|strong="G3588"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* supreme ruler \w over|strong="G1849"\w* \w every|strong="G3956"\w* \w powerful|strong="G1411"\w* \w spirit|strong="G3588"\w* \w of|strong="G2532"\w* \w every|strong="G3956"\w* level \w of|strong="G2532"\w* \w authority|strong="G1849"\w*. \w His|strong="G3956"\w* rank \w is|strong="G3588"\w* much higher \w than|strong="G2532"\w* \w any|strong="G3956"\w* \w powerful|strong="G1411"\w* \w spirit|strong="G3588"\w* can receive, \w not|strong="G3756"\w* \w only|strong="G3440"\w* \w now|strong="G2532"\w*, \w but|strong="G2532"\w* forever.  
\v 22 \w God|strong="G1325"\w* \w has|strong="G2532"\w* \w caused|strong="G1325"\w* \w all|strong="G3956"\w* beings \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w be|strong="G2532"\w* \w subject|strong="G5293"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* Christ [MTY], \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* \w has|strong="G2532"\w* \w also|strong="G2532"\w* appointed Christ, \w who|strong="G3588"\w* rules \w over|strong="G5228"\w* \w all|strong="G3956"\w* \w things|strong="G3956"\w*, \w to|strong="G2532"\w* rule [MET] \w over|strong="G5228"\w* \w all|strong="G3956"\w* believers.  
\v 23 \w We|strong="G1510"\w* believers \add relate to Christ like the parts of a person’s\add* \w body|strong="G4983"\w* [MET] \add relate to its head\add*. Christ uses \w all|strong="G3956"\w* \add his power among us\add* \w just|strong="G3588"\w* like \w he|strong="G3588"\w* uses \w his|strong="G3956"\w* power \w throughout|strong="G1722"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w whole|strong="G3956"\w* universe.

\s1 Formerly we were all spiritually dead and were certain to be punished by God, but he acted very kindly toward us and saved us freely as a result of our faith in Christ.

\v 3 \w Formerly|strong="G4218"\w*, \w we|strong="G2249"\w* \w all|strong="G3956"\w* \w used|strong="G4218"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* disobey \w God|strong="G2532"\w* \w as|strong="G5613"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* \w do|strong="G4160"\w*. \w We|strong="G2249"\w* \w did|strong="G4160"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w things|strong="G3956"\w* \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \w our|strong="G2532"\w* self-centered \w nature|strong="G5449"\w* wanted \w us|strong="G4160"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w do|strong="G4160"\w*. \w We|strong="G2249"\w* habitually \w did|strong="G4160"\w* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* \add evil\add* \w deeds|strong="G4160"\w* \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \w our|strong="G2532"\w* bodies \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w our|strong="G2532"\w* \w minds|strong="G1271"\w* wanted \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w do|strong="G4160"\w*. \w When|strong="G5613"\w* \w we|strong="G2249"\w* \w were|strong="G1510"\w* \w acting|strong="G4160"\w* \w like|strong="G5613"\w* \w that|strong="G3739"\w*, \w it|strong="G2532"\w* \w was|strong="G1510"\w* \w certain|strong="G2532"\w* \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \add God\add* \w would|strong="G2532"\w* punish [MTY] \w us|strong="G4160"\w*, \w just|strong="G5613"\w* \w like|strong="G5613"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* \w will|strong="G2307"\w* \w certainly|strong="G2532"\w* punish \w all|strong="G3956"\w* \w other|strong="G3062"\w* \add evil people\add*.

\s1 God brought you Gentiles into his family so that now you and Jewish believers both share the same blessings and form one group; you now have peace with each other and can come to God in prayer with the help of the Holy Spirit.

\v 4 \w you|strong="G3739"\w* \w will|strong="G3739"\w* \w be|strong="G1410"\w* \w able|strong="G1410"\w* \w to|strong="G4314"\w* \w understand|strong="G3539"\w* \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \w I|strong="G1473"\w* \w understand|strong="G3539"\w* clearly \w that|strong="G3739"\w* message \w about|strong="G1722"\w* \w Christ|strong="G5547"\w*.  
\v 5 Formerly, \add God\add* \w did|strong="G2532"\w* \w not|strong="G3756"\w* reveal \w that|strong="G3739"\w* message \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w anyone|strong="G3739"\w*, \w but|strong="G2532"\w* \w now|strong="G3568"\w* \w his|strong="G1722"\w* \w Spirit|strong="G4151"\w* \w has|strong="G3739"\w* revealed \w that|strong="G3739"\w* message \w to|strong="G2532"\w* ◄\w his|strong="G1722"\w* \w holy|strong="G4151"\w* apostles \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w prophets|strong="G4396"\w*/\w people|strong="G3588"\w* \w who|strong="G3739"\w* \w tell|strong="G3568"\w* messages \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \w come|strong="G2532"\w* \w directly|strong="G1722"\w* \w from|strong="G2532"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w*►.  
\v 6 \w That|strong="G3588"\w* message, \w which|strong="G3588"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* \w has|strong="G5547"\w* \w now|strong="G2532"\w* revealed, \w is|strong="G1510"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w because|strong="G1223"\w* \w of|strong="G1223"\w* \w our|strong="G2424"\w* \add (inc)\add* relationship \w with|strong="G1722"\w* \w Christ|strong="G5547"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G2424"\w*, \add all of us\add*, non-Jews \w as|strong="G1722"\w* \w well|strong="G2532"\w* \w as|strong="G1722"\w* Jews [MTY], \w will|strong="G1510"\w* receive \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \add great spiritual blessings that God has\add* \w promised|strong="G1860"\w* \w as|strong="G1722"\w* \w we|strong="G2532"\w* \w all|strong="G2532"\w* form \w one|strong="G3588"\w* group [MET] \add as a result of our believing\add* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w good|strong="G1223"\w* \w news|strong="G2098"\w* \add about Christ\add*.  
\v 7 \w By|strong="G2596"\w* \w God|strong="G2316"\w* powerfully enabling \w me|strong="G1325"\w*, \w and|strong="G2316"\w* \w because|strong="G2596"\w* \w God|strong="G2316"\w* acted kindly \w toward|strong="G2596"\w* \w me|strong="G1325"\w*, \w doing|strong="G1096"\w* \w what|strong="G3739"\w* \w I|strong="G1473"\w* \w did|strong="G1325"\w* \w not|strong="G3739"\w* deserve, \w and|strong="G2316"\w* chose \w me|strong="G1325"\w* \add to do that work\add*, \w I|strong="G1473"\w* \w became|strong="G1096"\w* \w someone|strong="G3739"\w* \w who|strong="G3739"\w* tells \w others|strong="G3588"\w* \w this|strong="G3588"\w* \w good|strong="G3588"\w* message.

\v 8 Although \w I|strong="G1473"\w* \w am|strong="G1473"\w* \w the|strong="G3956"\w* \w least|strong="G1646"\w* \add worthy\add* \w of|strong="G5485"\w* \w all|strong="G3956"\w* \w God|strong="G1325"\w*’s \w people|strong="G1484"\w*, \w God|strong="G1325"\w* kindly \add appointed\add* \w me|strong="G1325"\w* \w to|strong="G1325"\w* \w proclaim|strong="G2097"\w* \w to|strong="G1325"\w* \w the|strong="G3956"\w* non-Jews \w the|strong="G3956"\w* message \w about|strong="G3588"\w* \w the|strong="G3956"\w* \w great|strong="G3956"\w* spiritual blessings \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \add they can receive\add* \w from|strong="G3588"\w* \w Christ|strong="G5547"\w*,  
\v 9 \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* enable \w everyone|strong="G3956"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* understand clearly \w how|strong="G5101"\w* \w God|strong="G2316"\w* accomplished \w what|strong="G5101"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* planned. \w God|strong="G2316"\w*, \w who|strong="G5101"\w* \w created|strong="G2936"\w* \w everything|strong="G3956"\w*, \add has now revealed\add* \w this|strong="G3588"\w* message, \w which|strong="G3588"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* never revealed \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w anyone|strong="G3956"\w* \w before|strong="G1722"\w*.

\v 13 \w So|strong="G1352"\w* \w I|strong="G1473"\w* ask \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w do|strong="G3361"\w* \w not|strong="G3361"\w* \w be|strong="G1510"\w* discouraged \w because|strong="G1722"\w* \w of|strong="G1391"\w* \w my|strong="G1722"\w* \w suffering|strong="G2347"\w* \w many|strong="G1722"\w* \w things|strong="G3588"\w* \w for|strong="G5228"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \add here in prison\add*. \w You|strong="G5210"\w* \w should|strong="G3588"\w* feel \w honored|strong="G1391"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w I|strong="G1473"\w* \w am|strong="G1510"\w* \add willing to\add* suffer \add these things for your sake\add*.

Similarly, \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w were|strong="G3588"\w* chosen {\add God\add* chose \w you|strong="G5210"\w*} \w in|strong="G1722"\w* order \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w all|strong="G2532"\w* \w might|strong="G2532"\w* confidently keep expecting \w one|strong="G1520"\w* \add set of good\add* \w things|strong="G3588"\w* \add from God\add*.  
\v 5 There \w is|strong="G2962"\w* \w only|strong="G1520"\w* \w one|strong="G1520"\w* \w Lord|strong="G2962"\w*, \add Jesus Christ\add*. \w We|strong="G4102"\w* all \w believe|strong="G4102"\w* \w the|strong="G2962"\w* same \add teaching about him. It was to show that we belong to him\add* \w alone|strong="G1520"\w* \w that|strong="G2962"\w* \add we had someone\add* baptize us.  
\v 6 \w There|strong="G2532"\w* \w is|strong="G3588"\w* \w one|strong="G1520"\w* \w God|strong="G2316"\w*, \w who|strong="G3588"\w* \w is|strong="G3588"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \add spiritual\add* \w Father|strong="G3962"\w* \w of|strong="G1223"\w* \w all|strong="G3956"\w* \add us believers\add*. \w He|strong="G2532"\w* \add rules\add* \w over|strong="G1909"\w* \w all|strong="G3956"\w* \w his|strong="G3956"\w* \w people|strong="G3956"\w*; \w he|strong="G2532"\w* enables \w all|strong="G3956"\w* \w his|strong="G3956"\w* \w people|strong="G3956"\w* \add to do powerful things\add* (\w OR|strong="G2532"\w*, \w he|strong="G2532"\w* sustains \w all|strong="G3956"\w* \w his|strong="G3956"\w* \w people|strong="G3956"\w*); \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w his|strong="G3956"\w* \add Spirit lives\add* \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w all|strong="G3956"\w* \w his|strong="G3956"\w* \w people|strong="G3956"\w*.

\v 16 \w He|strong="G2532"\w* \add enables all those who belong to him to mature spiritually. \v 5 \w You|strong="G3739"\w* \w can|strong="G1492"\w* \w be|strong="G1510"\w* \w sure|strong="G1097"\w* \w of|strong="G2316"\w* \w this|strong="G3778"\w*: \w No|strong="G3756"\w* \w person|strong="G3739"\w* \w who|strong="G3739"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w* sexually \w immoral|strong="G4205"\w* \w or|strong="G2228"\w* \w who|strong="G3739"\w* acts indecently/shamefully \w will|strong="G2316"\w* \w be|strong="G1510"\w* \w among|strong="G1722"\w* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* \w people|strong="G3956"\w* \w whom|strong="G3739"\w* \w God|strong="G2316"\w* rules \w over|strong="G1722"\w* [MET] \add in heaven\add*. \w Neither|strong="G3756"\w* \w will|strong="G2316"\w* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* \w who|strong="G3739"\w* desire \w more|strong="G2532"\w* \w things|strong="G3956"\w* \w than|strong="G2228"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* \w need|strong="G2192"\w*. \w Such|strong="G3778"\w* \w people|strong="G3956"\w* worship \w their|strong="G2532"\w* possessions \add instead of worshipping God\add*.  
\v 6 \w Do|strong="G1223"\w* \w not|strong="G3367"\w* \w let|strong="G1063"\w* \w anyone|strong="G3367"\w* deceive \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w by|strong="G1223"\w* suggesting \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \add God will really\add* \w not|strong="G3367"\w* \add punish people who commit such sins\add*, \w because|strong="G1223"\w* \w God|strong="G2316"\w* \w certainly|strong="G1909"\w* \w will|strong="G2316"\w* punish [MTY] \w those|strong="G3588"\w* \w who|strong="G3588"\w* habitually disobey \w him|strong="G3588"\w* \add by doing such things\add*.   
\s1 Live righteously, and expose the evil deeds that evil people do, because when you do that, those people who do those evil things will come to know the truth.

\v 8 \w because|strong="G1063"\w* \w formerly|strong="G4218"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \add did not know God’s truth\add* [MET], \add as those who\add* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w darkness|strong="G4655"\w* \add do not know what is around them\add*. \w But|strong="G1161"\w* \w now|strong="G1161"\w* \add it is as though\add* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w light|strong="G5457"\w* [MET] \add because you know God’s truth\add* \w because|strong="G1063"\w* \w of|strong="G2962"\w* \w your|strong="G2962"\w* relationship \w with|strong="G1722"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w Lord|strong="G2962"\w* \add Jesus\add*. \w So|strong="G1161"\w* \w do|strong="G1510"\w* \w those|strong="G1722"\w* things \w that|strong="G5613"\w* \w those|strong="G1722"\w* \w who|strong="G1510"\w* \w know|strong="G1722"\w* \w God|strong="G2962"\w*’\w s|strong="G2962"\w* truth [MET] \w should|strong="G2962"\w* \w do|strong="G1510"\w*.  
\v 9 Keep \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w mind|strong="G2532"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \add as\add* \w light|strong="G5457"\w* [MET] causes \add good things to grow\add*, \w those|strong="G3588"\w* \w who|strong="G3588"\w* \w know|strong="G1722"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w*’s truth \w should|strong="G3588"\w* \w do|strong="G2532"\w* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* \w things|strong="G3956"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* \w good|strong="G3956"\w*, righteous, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* honest.  
\v 10 \w And|strong="G2962"\w* \w as|strong="G3588"\w* \add you do that\add*, \w try|strong="G1381"\w* ◄\w to|strong="G5101"\w* find \w out|strong="G2962"\w*/\w to|strong="G5101"\w* discover► \w what|strong="G5101"\w* pleases \w the|strong="G3588"\w* \w Lord|strong="G2962"\w*.  
\v 11 \w Do|strong="G2532"\w* \w not|strong="G3361"\w* \w do|strong="G2532"\w* \w the|strong="G2532"\w* worthless \w deeds|strong="G2041"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w the|strong="G2532"\w* \w people|strong="G3588"\w* ◄\w who|strong="G3588"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* \w in|strong="G2532"\w* \add spiritual\add* \w darkness|strong="G4655"\w*/\w who|strong="G3588"\w* \w do|strong="G2532"\w* \w not|strong="G3361"\w* know \w God|strong="G2532"\w*’s truth► [MET] \w do|strong="G2532"\w*. \w Instead|strong="G3123"\w*, \w let|strong="G1161"\w* \w others|strong="G3588"\w* know \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* \w people|strong="G3588"\w*’s \w deeds|strong="G2041"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* worthless.  
\v 12 \w It|strong="G2532"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w* shameful \w for|strong="G1063"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w*’s \w people|strong="G1510"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w even|strong="G2532"\w* talk \add among themselves about\add* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* \w evil|strong="G2532"\w* deeds \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w evil|strong="G2532"\w* \w people|strong="G1510"\w* \w do|strong="G1096"\w* secretly \w and|strong="G2532"\w* habitually.  
\v 13 \w But|strong="G1161"\w* \w when|strong="G1161"\w* \add God’s people rebuke those evil people about their deeds, it will be clear/evident how evil their deeds really are, just like\add* \w everything|strong="G3956"\w* \w exposed|strong="G1651"\w* \w to|strong="G1161"\w* \w the|strong="G3956"\w* \w light|strong="G5457"\w* \w becomes|strong="G5319"\w* \w visible|strong="G5319"\w* {\w as|strong="G1161"\w* \w light|strong="G5457"\w* [MET] reveals \w everything|strong="G3956"\w* \add that we cannot see in the darkness\add*}.  
\v 14  \add Just like something on which a light shines reflects that light\add* [MET], \add whoever has learned God’s truth reveals that truth to others\add*. \w That|strong="G3588"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w* \w why|strong="G1063"\w* \add we believers\add* \w say|strong="G3004"\w* \w this|strong="G3588"\w*:  
\q1 \w You|strong="G4771"\w* \w who|strong="G3588"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* \w not|strong="G1510"\w* aware \w of|strong="G1537"\w* \w your|strong="G2532"\w* sins, \w become|strong="G1510"\w* aware \w of|strong="G1537"\w* \w them|strong="G3588"\w* [MET]!  
\q1 \w It|strong="G2532"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w* \w as|strong="G2532"\w* \w though|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G4771"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* sound \w asleep|strong="G2518"\w*, \w so|strong="G2532"\w* wake \w up|strong="G1453"\w*!  
\q1 \w Be|strong="G1510"\w* like \w dead|strong="G3498"\w* \w people|strong="G3956"\w* \w who|strong="G3588"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* becoming alive \w again|strong="G1453"\w*!  
\q1 \w Christ|strong="G5547"\w* \w will|strong="G1510"\w* \w cause|strong="G1352"\w* \w you|strong="G4771"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w know|strong="G1537"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w*’s truth, \w just|strong="G2532"\w* like \w a|strong="G2532"\w* \w light|strong="G5457"\w* [MET]  
\pi1 \w that|strong="G3588"\w* shines causes \w people|strong="G3956"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w know|strong="G1537"\w* \w what|strong="G3588"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w* \w in|strong="G2532"\w* \w the|strong="G2532"\w* darkness.

\v 15 \w So|strong="G3767"\w* \w be|strong="G3361"\w* very careful \w how|strong="G4459"\w* \w you|strong="G4459"\w* \w behave|strong="G4043"\w*. \w Do|strong="G3361"\w* \w not|strong="G3361"\w* \w behave|strong="G4043"\w* \w as|strong="G5613"\w* foolish \w people|strong="G3361"\w* \w do|strong="G3361"\w*. Instead, \w behave|strong="G4043"\w* \w as|strong="G5613"\w* \w wise|strong="G4680"\w* \w people|strong="G3361"\w* \w do|strong="G3361"\w*.  
\v 16 \w Use|strong="G3588"\w* \w your|strong="G3588"\w* \w time|strong="G2540"\w* carefully, \w because|strong="G3754"\w* \w these|strong="G3588"\w* \w days|strong="G2250"\w* [MTY] \add people do\add* extremely \w evil|strong="G4190"\w* \add deeds\add*.  
\v 17 \w So|strong="G1223"\w* \w do|strong="G5101"\w* \w not|strong="G3361"\w* \w be|strong="G1096"\w* foolish. Instead, \w understand|strong="G4920"\w* \w what|strong="G5101"\w* \w the|strong="G1223"\w* \w Lord|strong="G2962"\w* \add Jesus\add* \w wants|strong="G2307"\w* \w you|strong="G3778"\w* \w to|strong="G1096"\w* \w do|strong="G5101"\w*, \add and do it\add*!

Instead, \w let|strong="G1510"\w* \add God’s\add* \w Spirit|strong="G4151"\w* control \w your|strong="G2532"\w* \add behavior\add* \w at|strong="G1722"\w* \w all|strong="G2532"\w* times [MTY].  
\v 19 \w Sing|strong="G5567"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w each|strong="G1438"\w* \w other|strong="G1438"\w* ◄\w Psalms|strong="G5568"\w*/\w songs|strong="G5603"\w* \add with words from the\add* Scriptures►, \w sing|strong="G5567"\w* \add other\add* \w songs|strong="G5603"\w* \add that the congregation knows\add*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w songs|strong="G5603"\w* \add that God’s\add* \w Spirit|strong="G3588"\w* \add gives you\add*. \w Sing|strong="G5567"\w* \w these|strong="G3588"\w* \w Psalms|strong="G5568"\w* \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w other|strong="G1438"\w* \w songs|strong="G5603"\w* sincerely \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \add praise\add* \w the|strong="G2532"\w* \w Lord|strong="G2962"\w* \add Jesus\add*.

\v 22-23 Because husbands have authority over [MET] their wives, just as all of us believers form one group \add under the authority of\add* Christ, you women should submit yourselves to \add the authority of your\add* husbands just as you submit yourselves to the Lord \add Jesus\add*. He is the one who saves all his people \add from the guilt of their sins\add*.

\v 29-30 This is shown by the fact that no one ever hated his own body. Instead, he feeds his own body and cares for it, just like Christ also cares for all us believers. We have become one group of believers that belongs to him [MET].

\v 6 \w Obey|strong="G4160"\w* \w them|strong="G3588"\w*, \w not|strong="G3361"\w* only \w when|strong="G5613"\w* \w they|strong="G3588"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* watching [MTY] \w you|strong="G4160"\w*, \w and|strong="G2316"\w* \w not|strong="G3361"\w* only \w to|strong="G2596"\w* \w cause|strong="G4160"\w* \w them|strong="G3588"\w* \w to|strong="G2596"\w* think highly/\w well|strong="G5613"\w* \w of|strong="G1537"\w* \w you|strong="G4160"\w*. Instead, \w obey|strong="G4160"\w* \w them|strong="G3588"\w* \w as|strong="G5613"\w* \add though you were\add* [MET] \w slaves|strong="G1401"\w* \w of|strong="G1537"\w* \w Christ|strong="G5547"\w*, \add not slaves of your masters\add*. \w Do|strong="G4160"\w* enthusiastically \w what|strong="G3588"\w* \w God|strong="G2316"\w* \w wants|strong="G2307"\w* \add you to do\add*.  
\v 7 \w Serve|strong="G1398"\w* \add your masters\add* zealously/wholeheartedly, \w as|strong="G5613"\w* \w you|strong="G2532"\w* \w would|strong="G2532"\w* \w serve|strong="G1398"\w* \w the|strong="G2532"\w* \w Lord|strong="G2962"\w* \add Jesus\add*, \w not|strong="G3756"\w* \w as|strong="G5613"\w* \w you|strong="G2532"\w* \w would|strong="G2532"\w* \w serve|strong="G1398"\w* \add ordinary\add* \w people|strong="G3588"\w*.  
\v 8  \add Do this because\add* \w you|strong="G1437"\w* \w know|strong="G1492"\w* \w that|strong="G3754"\w* \add some day\add* \w the|strong="G3754"\w* \w Lord|strong="G2962"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G4160"\w* \w will|strong="G2962"\w* reward \w each|strong="G1538"\w* \w person|strong="G1538"\w* \w for|strong="G3754"\w* \w whatever|strong="G1437"\w* \w good|strong="G1437"\w* \add deeds\add* \w that|strong="G3754"\w* \w person|strong="G1538"\w* \w has|strong="G2962"\w* \w done|strong="G4160"\w*. \w He|strong="G3754"\w* \w will|strong="G2962"\w* reward \w people|strong="G1492"\w* \w who|strong="G3748"\w* \w are|strong="G3778"\w* \w slaves|strong="G1401"\w* \w and|strong="G2962"\w* \w people|strong="G1492"\w* \w who|strong="G3748"\w* \w are|strong="G3778"\w* \w not|strong="G4160"\w* \w slaves|strong="G1401"\w*.

\v 9 \w You|strong="G5210"\w* \w masters|strong="G2962"\w*, \w just|strong="G2532"\w* \w like|strong="G4314"\w* \w your|strong="G2962"\w* slaves \add should serve you well\add*, \w you|strong="G5210"\w* similarly \w must|strong="G4160"\w* \w treat|strong="G4160"\w* \w them|strong="G3588"\w* \w well|strong="G2532"\w*. Stop threatening \add to beat\add* \w them|strong="G3588"\w* \add if they do not do their work well\add*. \w Do|strong="G4160"\w* \w not|strong="G3756"\w* forget \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* \w have|strong="G2532"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w same|strong="G2532"\w* \w Lord|strong="G2962"\w* \w who|strong="G3588"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w* \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w heaven|strong="G3772"\w*. \add So he is the one who will say to you and your slaves whether he approves of what you and they have done\add*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \add when he judges people\add*, \w he|strong="G2532"\w* \w does|strong="G4160"\w* \w not|strong="G3756"\w* \w act|strong="G4160"\w* \w more|strong="G2532"\w* favorably \add toward some than he acts toward others\add*.   
\s1 As you always rely on the Lord to strengthen you, make use of every spiritual resource that God provides to resist the devil and all his powerful evil spirits.

\v 11  \add Just like a soldier\add* puts \w on|strong="G1746"\w* \w all|strong="G3588"\w* \w his|strong="G4314"\w* ◄\w armor|strong="G3833"\w*/\w things|strong="G3588"\w* \add to help him fight\add*► [MET], \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w should|strong="G2316"\w* \add use every spiritual resource/help that God provides for you\add*, \w in|strong="G2316"\w* \w order|strong="G4314"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w may|strong="G1410"\w* successfully resist \w the|strong="G4314"\w* \w devil|strong="G1228"\w* \w when|strong="G2476"\w* \w he|strong="G3588"\w* cleverly tries \add to oppose you\add*.  
\v 12 \w You|strong="G3754"\w* \w must|strong="G3588"\w* \w do|strong="G2532"\w* \w this|strong="G3778"\w* \w because|strong="G3754"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* fighting \w that|strong="G3754"\w* \w we|strong="G2249"\w* \add believers\add* \w do|strong="G2532"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w* \w not|strong="G3756"\w* \w only|strong="G3756"\w* \w against|strong="G4314"\w* \w human|strong="G4561"\w* beings [SYN]. Instead, \w we|strong="G2249"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* \w also|strong="G2532"\w* fighting \w against|strong="G4314"\w* \w evil|strong="G4189"\w* spirits \w who|strong="G3588"\w* rule \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w have|strong="G2532"\w* \w authority|strong="G1849"\w* \w over|strong="G1849"\w* \w all|strong="G2532"\w* \w that|strong="G3754"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w* \w evil|strong="G4189"\w* [MET] \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w world|strong="G2888"\w*. \w And|strong="G2532"\w* \w we|strong="G2249"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* fighting \w against|strong="G4314"\w* \w evil|strong="G4189"\w* spirits \w who|strong="G3588"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w heavenly|strong="G2032"\w* places (\w OR|strong="G2532"\w*, everywhere).  
\v 13 \w Therefore|strong="G1223"\w*, \add just like a soldier\add* puts \w on|strong="G1722"\w* \w all|strong="G2532"\w* \w his|strong="G1223"\w* ◄\w armor|strong="G3833"\w*/\w things|strong="G3778"\w* \w to|strong="G2443"\w* help \w him|strong="G3588"\w* fight► [MET], \add use well all the spiritual resources/helps that God provides for you\add*. \w Do|strong="G2532"\w* \w that|strong="G2443"\w* \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w order|strong="G2443"\w* \w that|strong="G2443"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w may|strong="G2532"\w* \w be|strong="G2532"\w* \w able|strong="G1410"\w* \w to|strong="G2443"\w* resist successfully \w the|strong="G1722"\w* devil \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w all|strong="G2532"\w* \w his|strong="G1223"\w* powerful \w evil|strong="G4190"\w* spirits [MTY] \w every|strong="G1722"\w* \w time|strong="G2250"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* ◄attack \w you|strong="G1722"\w*/tempt \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w to|strong="G2443"\w* sin \w or|strong="G2532"\w* \w cause|strong="G1223"\w* something \w bad|strong="G4190"\w* \w to|strong="G2443"\w* happen \w to|strong="G2443"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w*►. \add Do it also in order that\add* \w when|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w have|strong="G2532"\w* \w done|strong="G2716"\w* \w all|strong="G2532"\w* \w that|strong="G2443"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w can|strong="G1410"\w* \w to|strong="G2443"\w* resist \w them|strong="G3588"\w* \add when they attack you\add*, \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w will|strong="G2316"\w* \w still|strong="G2476"\w* \w be|strong="G2532"\w* \w ready|strong="G1410"\w* \w to|strong="G2443"\w* resist \w them|strong="G3588"\w* \add when they attack you the next time\add*.

\v 14 \w You|strong="G5210"\w* \w must|strong="G3588"\w* \w be|strong="G2532"\w* ready \w to|strong="G2532"\w* firmly \add resist the devil and his evil spirits\add* [MET], \add just like soldiers must be ready to resist the enemy. Prepare for doing that by doing these things\add*: \add To be strong spiritually\add*, \w hold|strong="G2476"\w* firmly \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \add God’s\add* truth, \w just|strong="G2532"\w* like soldiers prepare ◄\w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w stand|strong="G2476"\w* \w firm|strong="G2476"\w* \w against|strong="G1722"\w*/\w to|strong="G2532"\w* firmly resist► \w their|strong="G2532"\w* enemies \w by|strong="G1722"\w* fastening \w their|strong="G2532"\w* belts around \w their|strong="G2532"\w* waists [MET]. Act \w righteously|strong="G1343"\w* \add in order to protect yourself against demonic attacks, just like soldiers\add* \w put|strong="G1746"\w* \w on|strong="G1722"\w* \w breastplates|strong="G2382"\w* \add to protect their chests against their enemies’ attacks\add* [MET].  
\v 15 Hold fast \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w good|strong="G3588"\w* message \add that gives us\add* \w peace|strong="G1515"\w* \add with God, just like soldiers\add* \w put|strong="G2532"\w* \w on|strong="G1722"\w* \w their|strong="G2532"\w* boots firmly [MET] ◄\w to|strong="G2532"\w* stand firm \add against/\add*\w to|strong="G2532"\w* firmly \add resist\add*► \add their enemies\add*.  
\v 16 \w In|strong="G1722"\w* addition, keep trusting firmly \add in the Lord. That will enable you to protect yourselves from anything that Satan\add*, \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w evil|strong="G4190"\w* \w one|strong="G3739"\w*, \add may do to harm you spiritually, just like soldiers\add* carry shields \add to protect themselves against\add* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* arrows \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \w have|strong="G3956"\w* \w flaming|strong="G4448"\w* tips \add that their enemies shoot at them\add* [MET].  
\v 17 \w And|strong="G2532"\w* \add rely/depend on the fact that God\add* \w has|strong="G2316"\w* saved \w you|strong="G3739"\w*, \add in order to protect yourselves against demonic attacks, just like soldiers\add* \w put|strong="G2532"\w* \w on|strong="G4151"\w* \w a|strong="G2532"\w* \w helmet|strong="G4030"\w* \add to protect\add* \w their|strong="G2532"\w* \add heads from attacks by\add* \w their|strong="G2532"\w* \add enemies\add* [MET]. \w And|strong="G2532"\w* \w be|strong="G1510"\w* ready \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w use|strong="G3588"\w* \add the weapon that God’s\add* \w Spirit|strong="G4151"\w* \add has given you\add*, \w which|strong="G3739"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w* \w the|strong="G2532"\w* \w message|strong="G4487"\w* \w of|strong="G4151"\w* \w God|strong="G2316"\w*, \add in order to fight against\add* ◄\add demonic powers/Satan\add*►, \add just like soldiers\add* \w use|strong="G3588"\w* \w their|strong="G2532"\w* \w swords|strong="G3162"\w* \add to fight against their enemies\add* [MET].  
\v 18 \w As|strong="G1519"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* doing \w that|strong="G3588"\w*, keep \w praying|strong="G4336"\w* \add to God\add* \w at|strong="G1722"\w* \w all|strong="G3956"\w* \w times|strong="G2540"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* requesting \w him|strong="G3588"\w* \add to do things for you and others;\add* \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w let|strong="G2532"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w*’s \w Spirit|strong="G4151"\w* \add direct what you pray\add*. \w For|strong="G1519"\w* \w this|strong="G3588"\w* purpose, \w always|strong="G3956"\w* \w be|strong="G2532"\w* \add spiritually\add* alert/watchful, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* ◄\w always|strong="G3956"\w* \w be|strong="G2532"\w* persistent \w in|strong="G1722"\w*/never quit► \w praying|strong="G4336"\w* \w for|strong="G1519"\w* \w all|strong="G3956"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w*’s \w people|strong="G3956"\w*.  
\v 19 \w And|strong="G2532"\w* \add specifically\add*, \w pray|strong="G2443"\w* \w for|strong="G5228"\w* \w me|strong="G1325"\w*. \w Pray|strong="G2443"\w* \w that|strong="G2443"\w* \w God|strong="G1325"\w* \w will|strong="G2532"\w* \w tell|strong="G1107"\w* \w me|strong="G1325"\w* \w what|strong="G3588"\w* \w I|strong="G1473"\w* \w should|strong="G3588"\w* \w say|strong="G3056"\w* [MTY] whenever \w I|strong="G1473"\w* speak, \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w order|strong="G2443"\w* \w that|strong="G2443"\w* \w I|strong="G1473"\w* \w may|strong="G2532"\w* \w boldly|strong="G3954"\w* \w tell|strong="G1107"\w* \w others|strong="G3588"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w good|strong="G3588"\w* \w message|strong="G3056"\w* \w about|strong="G1722"\w* Christ. \w People|strong="G3588"\w* \w did|strong="G2532"\w* \w not|strong="G2532"\w* \w know|strong="G1722"\w* \w that|strong="G2443"\w* \w message|strong="G3056"\w* \w before|strong="G1722"\w*, \add but God has now revealed it to me\add*.
