\s1 I, Simon Peter, am writing this letter to you whom God has caused to believe in Christ just like we apostles believe in Christ. I pray that God will bless you greatly.

\v 5 \w Because|strong="G1722"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w* \w has|strong="G4102"\w* done \w all|strong="G3956"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w*, \w by|strong="G1722"\w* trying \w very|strong="G2532"\w* hard, \w make|strong="G2532"\w* sure \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w not|strong="G2532"\w* \w only|strong="G2532"\w* \w believe|strong="G4102"\w* \add in Christ\add*, \w but|strong="G1161"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* \w also|strong="G2532"\w* living morally \w good|strong="G3956"\w* lives. \w And|strong="G2532"\w* \w make|strong="G2532"\w* sure \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* \w not|strong="G2532"\w* \w only|strong="G2532"\w* living morally \w good|strong="G3956"\w* lives, \w but|strong="G1161"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w also|strong="G2532"\w* \w know|strong="G1722"\w* \add what God desires\add* (\w OR|strong="G2532"\w*, behave wisely).  
\v 6 \w And|strong="G1161"\w* make sure \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* not only \w know|strong="G1722"\w* \add what God desires\add* (\w OR|strong="G1161"\w*, behave wisely), \w but|strong="G1161"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w also|strong="G1161"\w* control \w what|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* say \w and|strong="G1161"\w* \w do|strong="G1722"\w*. \w And|strong="G1161"\w* make sure \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* not only control \w what|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* say \w and|strong="G1161"\w* \w do|strong="G1722"\w*, \w but|strong="G1161"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* \w also|strong="G1161"\w* steadfast/\w patient|strong="G5281"\w*. \w And|strong="G1161"\w* make sure \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* not only ◄steadfast/\w patient|strong="G5281"\w* \w when|strong="G1161"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* suffer►, \w but|strong="G1161"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* \w also|strong="G1161"\w* godly.  
\v 7 \w And|strong="G1161"\w* make sure \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* not only ◄\w are|strong="G3588"\w* godly/live \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w a|strong="G1722"\w* \w way|strong="G1722"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* pleases \w God|strong="G3588"\w*►, \w but|strong="G1161"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w also|strong="G1161"\w* \w have|strong="G3588"\w* \w a|strong="G1722"\w* concern \w for|strong="G1161"\w* \w your|strong="G1722"\w* fellow believers, \w as|strong="G1722"\w* brothers \w and|strong="G1161"\w* sisters \add ought to have\add* \w for|strong="G1161"\w* each \w other|strong="G1161"\w*. \w And|strong="G1161"\w* make sure \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* not only \w have|strong="G3588"\w* \w a|strong="G1722"\w* concern \w for|strong="G1161"\w* \w your|strong="G1722"\w* fellow believers, \w but|strong="G1161"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w also|strong="G1161"\w* \w love|strong="G5360"\w* \add others\add*.  
\v 8 \w If|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w do|strong="G2532"\w* \w these|strong="G3778"\w* \add things\add*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w if|strong="G2532"\w* \add you do them\add* \w more|strong="G5225"\w* \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w more|strong="G5225"\w*, \w that|strong="G3588"\w* demonstrates \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w knowing|strong="G1922"\w* \w our|strong="G2424"\w* \w Lord|strong="G2962"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G2424"\w* \w Christ|strong="G5547"\w* ◄\w is|strong="G3588"\w* \w very|strong="G2532"\w* effective/produces \w good|strong="G3588"\w* results► [LIT] \w in|strong="G1519"\w* \w your|strong="G2962"\w* lives.  
\v 9 If \w these|strong="G3778"\w* \add qualities\add* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* \w not|strong="G3361"\w* \w present|strong="G3918"\w* \w in|strong="G1063"\w* \w people|strong="G1510"\w*, \w it|strong="G1063"\w* \w means|strong="G1510"\w* \w they|strong="G3588"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* \w not|strong="G3361"\w* aware \add that these things are important, just like a blind person is not aware of what is around him\add*. \w They|strong="G3588"\w* \add think only about earthly matters, just like\add* [MET] \w a|strong="G2983"\w* shortsighted \w person|strong="G3739"\w* \add sees clearly only things that are near\add*. \w It|strong="G1063"\w* seems \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \w they|strong="G3588"\w* \w have|strong="G1510"\w* \w forgotten|strong="G2983"\w* \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \w God|strong="G3361"\w* \w has|strong="G3739"\w* forgiven \w them|strong="G3588"\w* \w for|strong="G1063"\w* \w their|strong="G3588"\w* \w former|strong="G3588"\w* sinful lives.  
\v 10 \w Instead|strong="G3123"\w* \w of|strong="G2532"\w* \add acting like those people\add*, try \w to|strong="G2532"\w* confirm/prove \w by|strong="G2532"\w* \w the|strong="G2532"\w* \w way|strong="G3778"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* conduct \w your|strong="G2532"\w* lives \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* \w among|strong="G4160"\w* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* \w whom|strong="G3588"\w* \add God\add* \w has|strong="G3778"\w* \w chosen|strong="G1589"\w* [DOU] \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w be|strong="G2532"\w* \w his|strong="G4160"\w* \w people|strong="G3778"\w*. \w If|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w do|strong="G4160"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w*, \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w will|strong="G2532"\w* \w certainly|strong="G1063"\w* \w never|strong="G3756"\w* \w become|strong="G4160"\w* separated \w from|strong="G2532"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w*,  
\v 11 \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \add God\add* \w will|strong="G2532"\w* \w very|strong="G2532"\w* wholeheartedly welcome \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w into|strong="G1519"\w* \w the|strong="G2532"\w* \w place|strong="G1473"\w* \w where|strong="G1519"\w* \w our|strong="G2424"\w* \w Lord|strong="G2962"\w* \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w Savior|strong="G4990"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G2424"\w* \w Christ|strong="G5547"\w* \w will|strong="G2532"\w* rule \add his people\add* \w forever|strong="G1519"\w*.

\s1 You can be sure that these matters are true, because we apostles ourselves witnessed that our Lord Jesus Christ is supremely great, and also because what the prophets say about him is completely reliable.

\s1 I am writing this letter to you in order to help you remember what the holy prophets said and what our Lord and Savior commanded.

\s1 Although certain people will ridicule the idea that the Lord Jesus Christ is going to come back, the reason why he has not yet come back to judge people is that God is being patient with people; but Jesus will certainly come back and judge people.

\v 5  \add They will say that because\add* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* ◄deliberately overlook \add the fact/have decided to ignore what they know\add*► \w that|strong="G3754"\w* \w God|strong="G2316"\w*, \w by|strong="G1223"\w* commanding \add long ago that it should be so\add*, caused \w the|strong="G2532"\w* \w heavens|strong="G3772"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w exist|strong="G1510"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* caused \w the|strong="G2532"\w* \w earth|strong="G1093"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w appear|strong="G1510"\w* \w out|strong="G1537"\w* \w of|strong="G1537"\w* \w water|strong="G5204"\w* \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w be|strong="G1510"\w* separate \w from|strong="G1537"\w* \w the|strong="G2532"\w* \w water|strong="G5204"\w*.

\v 8 Dear \w friends|strong="G3844"\w*, \w I|strong="G2532"\w* want \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* understand \w well|strong="G2532"\w* \w that|strong="G3754"\w* \w the|strong="G2532"\w* \w Lord|strong="G2962"\w* \add God is willing to wait a long time to judge the people in the world! How much time passes before\add* \w the|strong="G2532"\w* \w Lord|strong="G2962"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w* \add judges the people in the world does not matter to him! He considers\add* \w that|strong="G3754"\w* \w one|strong="G1520"\w* \w day|strong="G2250"\w* \add passes no more quickly than\add* 1,000 \w years|strong="G2094"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \add he also considers\add* \w that|strong="G3754"\w* 1,000 \w years|strong="G2094"\w* \add pass as quickly as\add* \w one|strong="G1520"\w* \w day|strong="G2250"\w* passes \add to us\add*!  
\v 9  \add Therefore, you should not think that because Christ has not yet come back to judge people\add*, \w the|strong="G1519"\w* \w Lord|strong="G2962"\w* \w God|strong="G2962"\w* \w is|strong="G3588"\w* ◄delaying/\w slow|strong="G1019"\w* \w to|strong="G1519"\w* \w do|strong="G3361"\w*► \w what|strong="G3588"\w* \w he|strong="G3588"\w* \w promised|strong="G1860"\w*. \w Some|strong="G5100"\w* \w people|strong="G3956"\w* \w think|strong="G2233"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w this|strong="G3588"\w* \w is|strong="G3588"\w* \w so|strong="G1519"\w*, \add and they say that Christ will never come back\add*. \w But|strong="G3361"\w* \add you should understand that the reason why Christ has not yet come back to judge people is that\add* \w God|strong="G2962"\w* \w is|strong="G3588"\w* \w being|strong="G1860"\w* \w patient|strong="G3114"\w* \w with|strong="G1223"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w*, \w because|strong="G1223"\w* \w he|strong="G3588"\w* does \w not|strong="G3756"\w* \w want|strong="G1014"\w* \w anyone|strong="G5100"\w* \w to|strong="G1519"\w* \w be|strong="G3756"\w* lost \add eternally\add*. Instead, \w he|strong="G3588"\w* wants \w everyone|strong="G3956"\w* \w to|strong="G1519"\w* turn away \w from|strong="G3588"\w* \w their|strong="G3956"\w* sinful behavior.  
\v 10 \w Although|strong="G1161"\w* \add God is being patient, at\add* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w time|strong="G2250"\w* [MTY] \add that he has chosen\add*, \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w Lord|strong="G2962"\w* \add Jesus Christ\add* \w will|strong="G2532"\w* \add certainly\add* \w come|strong="G2240"\w* back \add to judge people\add*. \w He|strong="G2532"\w* \w will|strong="G2532"\w* \w come|strong="G2240"\w* back \add unexpectedly\add*, \w like|strong="G5613"\w* \w a|strong="G5613"\w* \w thief|strong="G2812"\w* [SIM] \add comes unexpectedly\add*. \w At|strong="G1722"\w* \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \w time|strong="G2250"\w* \w there|strong="G2532"\w* \w will|strong="G2532"\w* \w be|strong="G2532"\w* \w a|strong="G5613"\w* \w great|strong="G2532"\w* roaring sound. \w The|strong="G1722"\w* \w heavens|strong="G3772"\w* \w will|strong="G2532"\w* cease \w to|strong="G2532"\w* exist. ◄\w The|strong="G1722"\w* \w elements|strong="G4747"\w*/\w The|strong="G1722"\w* parts \add of which the universe consists\add*► \w will|strong="G2532"\w* \w be|strong="G2532"\w* \w destroyed|strong="G3089"\w* \w by|strong="G1722"\w* fire, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w earth|strong="G1093"\w* \add that God made\add* \w and|strong="G2532"\w* everything \w on|strong="G1722"\w* \w it|strong="G2532"\w* \add that people have made\add* \w will|strong="G2532"\w* disappear (\w OR|strong="G2532"\w*, \w will|strong="G2532"\w* \w be|strong="G2532"\w* \w burned|strong="G2618"\w* \w up|strong="G2618"\w*).   
\s1 You certainly ought to behave in a godly manner, because God will destroy everything, and because only those people who are righteous will live in the new heavens and on the new earth.
