\imt1 About this letter  
\ip Paul wrote this letter about 2,000 years ago, about 30 years after Jesus went back to heaven, and it is now in the Holy Bible.  
\ip God sent Paul to lots of countries and lots of towns to tell people about Jesus. Epafras heard Paul’s message, and he believed in Jesus. Then Epafras went to the town called Colossae, to tell the people there about Jesus. Colossae was in the country that is now called Turkey. About 1,100 years later some enemy soldiers broke Colossae down, and today there are just stones and rubbish at that place in Turkey.  
\ip At the time when Paul wrote this letter, the Roman people were the bosses over lots of nations. The Roman bosses didn’t like Paul telling people about Jesus, so they grabbed him and put him in jail. Epafras visited him there in jail and told him about the Christians at Colossae. He also told Paul that some people were teaching them lies. So Paul wrote this letter to the Christians at Colossae, to tell them the true message so that they would not believe those lying teachers. He was still in jail when he wrote this letter.  
\ip This letter has good messages for us today. We have to take notice of those messages that Paul wrote to the Christians at Colossae.

\v 1 \w I|strong="G2532"\w*’m \w Paul|strong="G3972"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w this|strong="G3588"\w* letter \w is|strong="G3588"\w* \w from|strong="G2532"\w* \w me|strong="G1223"\w*. \w And|strong="G2532"\w* \w Timothy|strong="G5095"\w* \w is|strong="G3588"\w* \w helping|strong="G2532"\w* \w me|strong="G1223"\w* write \w it|strong="G2532"\w* \w too|strong="G2532"\w*. \w God|strong="G2316"\w* \w made|strong="G2316"\w* \w me|strong="G1223"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G2424"\w* \w Christ|strong="G5547"\w*’s special worker.\fig This letter is from Paul, he told Timothy what to write|src="C_103.tif" size="col" ref="1:1" \fig*

\v 2 \w We|strong="G2249"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* writing \w this|strong="G3588"\w* letter \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w God|strong="G2316"\w*’s \w people|strong="G3588"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w live|strong="G2532"\w* \w at|strong="G1722"\w* \w Colossae|strong="G2857"\w*. \w You|strong="G5210"\w* joined \w up|strong="G1722"\w* \w with|strong="G1722"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G2532"\w* \w Christ|strong="G5547"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* keep \w on|strong="G1722"\w* trusting \w him|strong="G3588"\w*, \w so|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* like brothers \w and|strong="G2532"\w* sisters \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w us|strong="G2249"\w*.  
\p \w We|strong="G2249"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* asking \w God|strong="G2316"\w* \w our|strong="G2316"\w* \w father|strong="G3962"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w be|strong="G2532"\w* \w good|strong="G3588"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w make|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* feel happy \w and|strong="G2532"\w* quiet \w inside|strong="G1722"\w* \w yourselves|strong="G4771"\w*.   
\s1 People at Colossae believed the good news about Jesus

\v 3-5 People tell us good things about you, so now, every time we pray for you, we always say \em thank you\em* to God for you. He is the father of our leader Jesus Christ. You heard the true message about Jesus, and you believed it. Now you are really sure that God will give you the good things that he promised. You know that he is keeping them safe for you in heaven. So you keep on believing in Jesus Christ, and you keep on loving all God’s people. That is what people tell us about you.

\v 6 \w And|strong="G2532"\w* \w other|strong="G3739"\w* \w people|strong="G3956"\w* everywhere \w are|strong="G1510"\w* hearing \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \w same|strong="G3739"\w* \w true|strong="G3588"\w* message \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* heard \w about|strong="G1722"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G1510"\w*. \w And|strong="G2532"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* believing \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G1510"\w* \w and|strong="G2532"\w* doing \w good|strong="G3956"\w* \w things|strong="G3956"\w* \w too|strong="G2532"\w*.

\v 7 Epafras told \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w the|strong="G3588"\w* message \w about|strong="G5228"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G1510"\w*. \w He|strong="G3739"\w* works \w for|strong="G5228"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G1510"\w* \w Christ|strong="G5547"\w*, \w just|strong="G2531"\w* \w like|strong="G2531"\w* \w we|strong="G2249"\w* \w do|strong="G1510"\w*, \w and|strong="G4103"\w* \w we|strong="G2249"\w* love \w him|strong="G3588"\w* \w very|strong="G5228"\w* much. \w You|strong="G5210"\w* see, \w we|strong="G2249"\w* couldn’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* \w go|strong="G3739"\w* \w and|strong="G4103"\w* tell \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w the|strong="G3588"\w* message \w about|strong="G5228"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G1510"\w*, \w but|strong="G3588"\w* \w he|strong="G3739"\w* \w went|strong="G3588"\w* instead \w of|strong="G5228"\w* \w us|strong="G2249"\w*. \w He|strong="G3739"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w* \w a|strong="G1510"\w* \w good|strong="G3588"\w* \w man|strong="G3739"\w*. \w You|strong="G5210"\w* can always \w believe|strong="G4103"\w* \w what|strong="G3739"\w* \w he|strong="G3739"\w* tells \w you|strong="G5210"\w*.\x * \xo 1:7 \xt Colossians 4:12; Philemon 1:23\x*

\v 8 \w After|strong="G2532"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w*, Epafras \w came|strong="G2532"\w* back \w here|strong="G1722"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* \w told|strong="G1213"\w* \w us|strong="G2249"\w* \w about|strong="G1722"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w*. \w He|strong="G2532"\w* \w said|strong="G2532"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w Holy|strong="G4151"\w* \w Spirit|strong="G4151"\w* \w now|strong="G2532"\w* helps \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* love everybody.

\v 9 Yes, Epafras told \w us|strong="G2249"\w* \w about|strong="G1722"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w so|strong="G2443"\w* \w now|strong="G2532"\w* \w we|strong="G2249"\w* \w pray|strong="G4336"\w* \w for|strong="G5228"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w all|strong="G3956"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w time|strong="G2250"\w*. \w We|strong="G2249"\w* ask \w God|strong="G2532"\w* \w to|strong="G2443"\w* help \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w to|strong="G2443"\w* \w know|strong="G1722"\w* \w what|strong="G3739"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* \w wants|strong="G2307"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w to|strong="G2443"\w* \w do|strong="G2532"\w*. \w And|strong="G2532"\w* \w we|strong="G2249"\w* \w pray|strong="G4336"\w* \w that|strong="G2443"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* \w will|strong="G2307"\w* help \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w to|strong="G2443"\w* understand \w spiritual|strong="G4152"\w* \w things|strong="G3956"\w* properly, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* think \w about|strong="G1722"\w* \w them|strong="G3588"\w* properly.  
\v 10 \w Then|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w will|strong="G2316"\w* \w live|strong="G4043"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w way|strong="G1722"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w our|strong="G2316"\w* leader, \w Jesus|strong="G2532"\w*, wants \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w to|strong="G1519"\w* \w live|strong="G4043"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w will|strong="G2316"\w* \w do|strong="G2532"\w* lots \w of|strong="G2316"\w* \w good|strong="G3956"\w* \w things|strong="G3956"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w will|strong="G2316"\w* \w make|strong="G1519"\w* \w him|strong="G3588"\w* happy. \w And|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w will|strong="G2316"\w* \w know|strong="G1722"\w* \w God|strong="G2316"\w* better \w and|strong="G2532"\w* better \w all|strong="G3956"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w time|strong="G1722"\w*.

\v 11 \w And|strong="G2532"\w* \w we|strong="G2532"\w* ask \w God|strong="G2532"\w* \w to|strong="G1519"\w* \w use|strong="G3588"\w* \w his|strong="G3956"\w* \w great|strong="G3956"\w* \w power|strong="G1411"\w* \w to|strong="G1519"\w* \w make|strong="G1519"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w strong|strong="G2532"\w*, \w so|strong="G2532"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w will|strong="G2532"\w* stay \w strong|strong="G2532"\w* \w for|strong="G1519"\w* \w him|strong="G3588"\w* \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w will|strong="G2532"\w* \w not|strong="G2532"\w* \w give|strong="G3956"\w* \w up|strong="G1519"\w*. \w And|strong="G2532"\w* \w if|strong="G2532"\w* \w people|strong="G3956"\w* \w give|strong="G3956"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* trouble, \w we|strong="G2532"\w* pray \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* \w will|strong="G2532"\w* \w not|strong="G2532"\w* worry \w or|strong="G2532"\w* \w get|strong="G2532"\w* upset. \w And|strong="G2532"\w* \w we|strong="G2532"\w* ask \w him|strong="G3588"\w* \w to|strong="G1519"\w* \w make|strong="G1519"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w* happy \w all|strong="G3956"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w time|strong="G1722"\w*.  
\v 12 \w And|strong="G3962"\w* \w we|strong="G1722"\w* want \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w to|strong="G1519"\w* always say \em thank you\em* \w to|strong="G1519"\w* \w God|strong="G1519"\w*, \w our|strong="G1722"\w* \w father|strong="G3962"\w*. \w He|strong="G3588"\w* \w brought|strong="G1519"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w into|strong="G1519"\w* \w his|strong="G1519"\w* family \w so|strong="G1519"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w will|strong="G3962"\w* get \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w good|strong="G3588"\w* \w things|strong="G3588"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w he|strong="G3588"\w* promised \w to|strong="G1519"\w* \w give|strong="G2168"\w* \w to|strong="G1519"\w* \w his|strong="G1519"\w* \w people|strong="G3588"\w*. \w Then|strong="G1722"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w will|strong="G3962"\w* live \w with|strong="G1722"\w* \w him|strong="G3588"\w* \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w his|strong="G1519"\w* \w good|strong="G3588"\w* \w place|strong="G1722"\w*.   
\s1 God’s son died to set us free

\v 13-14 You know, the boss over the bad spirits always used to push us to do bad things. It’s like we were in a bad place, where he is the boss. But God sent his son, Jesus, to get us out of that place. He took the payback for us, so that now God will not punish us. He set us free from that bad boss, and now we belong to the family of God’s son. God loves his son Jesus very much.\x * \xo 1:13-14 \xt Ephesians 1:7\x*

\v 15-16 Nobody can see God. But God’s son, Jesus, is just like God, and he showed people what God is like. You see, Jesus was there with God a long time ago, and he worked with God to make everything. They made all the things in heaven, and all the things on the earth. They made the things we can see, and the things we can’t see. They made all the spirits, even the spirit bosses that we can’t see. God worked with his son to make everything, so that now everything has to respect God’s son. Jesus is God’s son, and he is the boss over everything.  
\v 17 \w He|strong="G2532"\w* \w was|strong="G1510"\w* \w there|strong="G2532"\w* \w at|strong="G1722"\w* \w first|strong="G3588"\w*, \w before|strong="G4253"\w* \w anything|strong="G3956"\w* \w else|strong="G2532"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w now|strong="G2532"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* holds \w everything|strong="G3956"\w* \w together|strong="G2532"\w*, \w everything|strong="G3956"\w* everywhere, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* keeps \w it|strong="G2532"\w* \w all|strong="G3956"\w* \w working|strong="G2532"\w* properly.

\v 18 \w Jesus|strong="G1510"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* leader \w of|strong="G1537"\w* \w all|strong="G3956"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w*’s \w people|strong="G3956"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w*’s \w people|strong="G3956"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w church|strong="G1577"\w*. \w It|strong="G2532"\w*’s \w like|strong="G2443"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w*’s \w people|strong="G3956"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* \w a|strong="G1096"\w* \w body|strong="G4983"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G1510"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w* \w their|strong="G2532"\w* \w head|strong="G2776"\w*. \w He|strong="G2532"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w church|strong="G1577"\w*’s leader. \w He|strong="G2532"\w* \w was|strong="G1510"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w first|strong="G4409"\w* \w one|strong="G3739"\w* \w to|strong="G2443"\w* ever die \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w then|strong="G2532"\w* \w come|strong="G1096"\w* back \w to|strong="G2443"\w* life \w and|strong="G2532"\w* keep \w on|strong="G1722"\w* living. \w So|strong="G2443"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w* really \w great|strong="G3956"\w*. \w He|strong="G2532"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w* greater \w than|strong="G2532"\w* \w anyone|strong="G3956"\w* \w else|strong="G2532"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* greater \w than|strong="G2532"\w* \w anything|strong="G3956"\w* \w else|strong="G2532"\w*, anywhere.\x * \xo 1:18 \xt Ephesians 1:22-23\x*

\v 19 \w At|strong="G1722"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w time|strong="G1722"\w* \w when|strong="G1722"\w* \w God|strong="G2730"\w*’s son \w became|strong="G3588"\w* \w a|strong="G1722"\w* \w man|strong="G3956"\w*, \w God|strong="G2730"\w* \w lived|strong="G2730"\w* \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w him|strong="G3588"\w* properly. \w God|strong="G2730"\w* \w was|strong="G3588"\w* happy \w to|strong="G1722"\w* \w live|strong="G2730"\w* \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w him|strong="G3588"\w*.  
\v 20 \w God|strong="G2532"\w* used \w him|strong="G3588"\w* \w to|strong="G1519"\w* \w get|strong="G2532"\w* \w everything|strong="G3956"\w* \w to|strong="G1519"\w* \w come|strong="G2532"\w* \w back|strong="G1519"\w* \w to|strong="G1519"\w* \w himself|strong="G1519"\w*. \w God|strong="G2532"\w*’s son bled \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w died|strong="G3588"\w* \w on|strong="G1909"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w cross|strong="G4716"\w*, \w so|strong="G2532"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w now|strong="G2532"\w* \w everything|strong="G3956"\w* can stop \w being|strong="G2532"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w*’s enemies, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* become \w God|strong="G2532"\w*’s friends \w again|strong="G2532"\w*. \w Some|strong="G3588"\w* \w of|strong="G1223"\w* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* \w things|strong="G3956"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w heaven|strong="G3772"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w some|strong="G3588"\w* \w of|strong="G1223"\w* \w them|strong="G3588"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* \w on|strong="G1909"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w earth|strong="G1093"\w*, \w but|strong="G2532"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G2532"\w* \w died|strong="G3588"\w* \w on|strong="G1909"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w cross|strong="G4716"\w*, \w so|strong="G2532"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* can \w all|strong="G3956"\w* \w come|strong="G2532"\w* \w back|strong="G1519"\w* \w to|strong="G1519"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w*.\x * \xo 1:20 \xt Ephesians 2:16\x*   
\s1 God is a friend of people that trust Jesus

\v 21 \w And|strong="G2532"\w* \w I|strong="G2532"\w*’m talking \w about|strong="G1722"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w too|strong="G2532"\w*. \w At|strong="G1722"\w* \w first|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w were|strong="G1510"\w* \w not|strong="G1510"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w*’s friends. \w You|strong="G5210"\w* \w were|strong="G1510"\w* \w his|strong="G1722"\w* \w enemies|strong="G2190"\w*. \w You|strong="G5210"\w* always thought \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w a|strong="G2532"\w* \w bad|strong="G4190"\w* \w way|strong="G1722"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w then|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w did|strong="G2532"\w* \w bad|strong="G4190"\w* \w things|strong="G3588"\w*.  
\v 22 \w But|strong="G1161"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w* \w sent|strong="G2532"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G2532"\w* Christ \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w live|strong="G2532"\w* \w as|strong="G1722"\w* \w a|strong="G2532"\w* \w man|strong="G4561"\w*, \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w a|strong="G2532"\w* \w human|strong="G4561"\w* \w body|strong="G4983"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w then|strong="G2532"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* \w let|strong="G1161"\w* \w people|strong="G4561"\w* kill \w Jesus|strong="G2532"\w*’s \w body|strong="G4983"\w*. \w When|strong="G1161"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G2532"\w* \w died|strong="G2288"\w*, \w he|strong="G2532"\w* \w took|strong="G2532"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* payback \w for|strong="G1223"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* bad \w things|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w did|strong="G2532"\w*, \w so|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* can \w be|strong="G2532"\w* friends \w with|strong="G1722"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w*. \w It|strong="G2532"\w*’s like \w he|strong="G2532"\w* washed \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w of|strong="G1223"\w* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* bad \w things|strong="G3588"\w*, \w so|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* properly \w good|strong="G1223"\w* \w and|strong="G2532"\w* clean \w inside|strong="G1722"\w*. \w So|strong="G2532"\w* \w at|strong="G1722"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w time|strong="G1722"\w* \w when|strong="G1161"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w* \w will|strong="G2532"\w* judge everyone, \w he|strong="G2532"\w* \w will|strong="G2532"\w* see \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* clean \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* \w will|strong="G2532"\w* \w not|strong="G1223"\w* blame \w you|strong="G5210"\w*, \w he|strong="G2532"\w* \w will|strong="G2532"\w* \w say|strong="G1223"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* \w not|strong="G1223"\w* guilty.

\v 24 Yes, \w I|strong="G1473"\w* \w tell|strong="G3568"\w* \w people|strong="G1510"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* message \w about|strong="G1722"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G1510"\w*. \w Some|strong="G3739"\w* \w people|strong="G1510"\w* don’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* like \w it|strong="G2532"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* \w give|strong="G1473"\w* \w me|strong="G1473"\w* \w trouble|strong="G2347"\w*. \w But|strong="G2532"\w* \w that|strong="G3739"\w* doesn’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* matter, \w that|strong="G3739"\w* message helps \w people|strong="G1510"\w* \w that|strong="G3739"\w* believe \w it|strong="G2532"\w*. \w You|strong="G5210"\w* believe \w it|strong="G2532"\w*, \w so|strong="G2532"\w* \w it|strong="G2532"\w* helps \w you|strong="G5210"\w*. \w So|strong="G2532"\w* \w I|strong="G1473"\w* \w am|strong="G1510"\w* happy, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w I|strong="G1473"\w* keep \w on|strong="G1722"\w* telling \w it|strong="G2532"\w*. \w You|strong="G5210"\w* \w know|strong="G1722"\w* \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G1510"\w* \w Christ|strong="G5547"\w* got \w a|strong="G2532"\w* lot \w of|strong="G2532"\w* \w trouble|strong="G2347"\w*. \w In|strong="G1722"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w same|strong="G3739"\w* \w way|strong="G1722"\w*, \w I|strong="G1473"\w* \w get|strong="G2532"\w* \w a|strong="G2532"\w* lot \w of|strong="G2532"\w* \w trouble|strong="G2347"\w*. \w But|strong="G2532"\w* \w I|strong="G1473"\w* \w want|strong="G5303"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* keep \w on|strong="G1722"\w* \w helping|strong="G2532"\w* \w his|strong="G1722"\w* \w people|strong="G1510"\w*. \w They|strong="G2532"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w church|strong="G1577"\w*. \w They|strong="G2532"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* like \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w body|strong="G4983"\w* \w of|strong="G2532"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G1510"\w* \w Christ|strong="G5547"\w*.

Keep \w on|strong="G1722"\w* strongly \w believing|strong="G4102"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w things|strong="G3588"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w we|strong="G2532"\w* \w taught|strong="G1321"\w* \w you|strong="G1722"\w*. \w And|strong="G2532"\w* always thank \w God|strong="G2532"\w* \w very|strong="G2532"\w* much \w for|strong="G1722"\w* everything.   
\s1 Don’t believe any message about God that did not come from Jesus Christ

\v 8 \w Some|strong="G5100"\w* \w people|strong="G1510"\w* \w might|strong="G2532"\w* try \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w make|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* believe \w some|strong="G5100"\w* ideas \w about|strong="G2596"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* wrong. \w Those|strong="G3588"\w* ideas didn’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* \w come|strong="G1510"\w* \w from|strong="G2532"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G1510"\w* \w Christ|strong="G5547"\w*, \w but|strong="G2532"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* \w came|strong="G2532"\w* \w from|strong="G2532"\w* bad \w spirits|strong="G2889"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w from|strong="G2532"\w* \w the|strong="G2532"\w* \w people|strong="G1510"\w* \w of|strong="G1223"\w* \w this|strong="G3588"\w* \w world|strong="G2889"\w*. \w People|strong="G1510"\w* taught \w those|strong="G3588"\w* ideas \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w their|strong="G2532"\w* kids, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w their|strong="G2532"\w* grand-kids. \w But|strong="G2532"\w* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* ideas \w are|strong="G1510"\w* \w not|strong="G3756"\w* \w true|strong="G3588"\w*. \w They|strong="G2532"\w* \w might|strong="G2532"\w* sound \w good|strong="G1223"\w*, \w but|strong="G2532"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* tricky lies. \w Be|strong="G1510"\w* careful. Don’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* believe \w them|strong="G3588"\w*.

\v 9 Listen. \w God|strong="G2730"\w* himself \w lives|strong="G2730"\w* \w in|strong="G1722"\w* Jesus Christ. Jesus \w has|strong="G3748"\w* \w a|strong="G1722"\w* body \w and|strong="G3956"\w* \w God|strong="G2730"\w* \w lives|strong="G2730"\w* \w in|strong="G1722"\w* \w that|strong="G3754"\w* body, \w so|strong="G3754"\w* \w that|strong="G3754"\w* Jesus \w is|strong="G3588"\w* properly \w God|strong="G2730"\w*.

\s1 God finished up the power of all the bad spirits

\v 13-14 You did bad things before. Your spirits still had that bad part that made you go wrong. It is like your spirits were dead. I will use picture talk to show you what I mean. Whenever you did bad things, it is like somebody wrote it down on paper so they could blame you later. But God let them blame Jesus instead of you, and then God chucked that paper away. It is like he nailed that paper to the cross when he let people nail Jesus there. And then God made your spirits alive again, just like he made Jesus alive again. \v 15 \w God|strong="G2532"\w* \w did|strong="G2532"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* finished \w up|strong="G1722"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w power|strong="G1849"\w* \w of|strong="G2532"\w* \w all|strong="G2532"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* bad \w spirit|strong="G3588"\w* mob. \w He|strong="G2532"\w* \w was|strong="G3588"\w* \w even|strong="G2532"\w* stronger \w than|strong="G2532"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* most powerful \w spirit|strong="G3588"\w* bosses. \w He|strong="G2532"\w* finished \w up|strong="G1722"\w* \w their|strong="G1438"\w* \w power|strong="G1849"\w* \w when|strong="G2532"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G2532"\w* \w died|strong="G3588"\w* \w on|strong="G1722"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* cross. \w He|strong="G2532"\w* shamed \w them|strong="G3588"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* showed everyone \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* \w is|strong="G3588"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* winner \w over|strong="G1849"\w* \w all|strong="G2532"\w* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* bad spirits.   
\s1 You don’t have to follow laws that people make up

\v 16 \w You|strong="G5210"\w* \w know|strong="G1722"\w*, \w some|strong="G5100"\w* \w people|strong="G2919"\w* \w make|strong="G3361"\w* \w up|strong="G1722"\w* laws, \w and|strong="G3767"\w* \w they|strong="G3767"\w* reckon \w that|strong="G3361"\w* if \w you|strong="G5210"\w* want \w to|strong="G1722"\w* \w make|strong="G3361"\w* \w God|strong="G3361"\w* happy, \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w have|strong="G5210"\w* \w to|strong="G1722"\w* \w follow|strong="G3767"\w* \w those|strong="G1722"\w* laws. \w But|strong="G3361"\w* remember \w what|strong="G5100"\w* \w I|strong="G3767"\w* just \w said|strong="G3767"\w*. \w God|strong="G3361"\w* \w is|strong="G5100"\w* already happy \w with|strong="G1722"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w*. \w So|strong="G3767"\w* don’t listen \w to|strong="G1722"\w* \w anyone|strong="G5100"\w* \w that|strong="G3361"\w* says \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w are|strong="G1722"\w* wrong if \w you|strong="G5210"\w* don’t \w follow|strong="G3767"\w* \w their|strong="G1722"\w* laws. Don’t take \w any|strong="G5100"\w* notice \w of|strong="G5100"\w* \w them|strong="G1722"\w*. \w They|strong="G3767"\w* \w might|strong="G5210"\w* \w have|strong="G5210"\w* laws \w about|strong="G1722"\w* \w things|strong="G5100"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* can’t eat \w or|strong="G2228"\w* \w drink|strong="G4213"\w*. \w Or|strong="G2228"\w* \w they|strong="G3767"\w* \w might|strong="G5210"\w* \w have|strong="G5210"\w* laws \w about|strong="G1722"\w* \w some|strong="G5100"\w* ceremonies \w on|strong="G1722"\w* special \w days|strong="G4521"\w*, \w or|strong="G2228"\w* laws \w about|strong="G1722"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w time|strong="G1722"\w* \w of|strong="G5100"\w* \w a|strong="G1722"\w* \w new|strong="G5100"\w* \w moon|strong="G3561"\w*, \w or|strong="G2228"\w* laws \w about|strong="G1722"\w* \w a|strong="G1722"\w* special \w day|strong="G4521"\w* \w for|strong="G1722"\w* rest.

\v 17 \w God|strong="G3588"\w* \w gave|strong="G3588"\w* \w the|strong="G1161"\w* Jewish \w people|strong="G1510"\w* laws \w about|strong="G3195"\w* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* \w things|strong="G3588"\w*, \w but|strong="G1161"\w* \w they|strong="G1161"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* \w not|strong="G1510"\w* \w for|strong="G1161"\w* us \w now|strong="G1161"\w*. \w It|strong="G1161"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w* like \w this|strong="G3588"\w*, \w and|strong="G1161"\w* \w I|strong="G3739"\w*’m using picture talk again \w now|strong="G1161"\w*. Sometimes \w you|strong="G3739"\w* see \w a|strong="G1510"\w* \w shadow|strong="G4639"\w* moving along, \w and|strong="G1161"\w* \w you|strong="G3739"\w* know \w that|strong="G3739"\w* somebody \w is|strong="G1510"\w* \w coming|strong="G3195"\w*. Well, \w God|strong="G3588"\w* \w gave|strong="G3588"\w* \w them|strong="G3588"\w* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* laws, \w but|strong="G1161"\w* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* laws \w are|strong="G1510"\w* \w just|strong="G3588"\w* like \w a|strong="G1510"\w* \w shadow|strong="G4639"\w*. \w They|strong="G1161"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* \w not|strong="G1510"\w* \w the|strong="G1161"\w* real \w person|strong="G3739"\w*. \w The|strong="G1161"\w* real \w person|strong="G3739"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G1510"\w* \w Christ|strong="G5547"\w*. \w And|strong="G1161"\w* \w now|strong="G1161"\w* \w he|strong="G1161"\w* \w has|strong="G3739"\w* \w come|strong="G3195"\w* \w to|strong="G3195"\w* us, \w so|strong="G1161"\w* \w we|strong="G3739"\w* don’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* need \w to|strong="G3195"\w* look \w at|strong="G1161"\w* \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \w shadow|strong="G4639"\w* \w any|strong="G3739"\w* \w more|strong="G3195"\w*. \w That|strong="G3739"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w*, \w we|strong="G3739"\w* don’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* need \w to|strong="G3195"\w* \w follow|strong="G1161"\w* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* laws \w any|strong="G3739"\w* \w more|strong="G3195"\w*.

\v 18 \w There|strong="G2532"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* \w some|strong="G3739"\w* \w people|strong="G4561"\w* \w that|strong="G3739"\w* tell lies \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w say|strong="G2532"\w*, “\w God|strong="G2532"\w* \w has|strong="G3739"\w* shown \w us|strong="G1722"\w* special \w things|strong="G3588"\w*.” \w Those|strong="G3588"\w* \w people|strong="G4561"\w* think \w up|strong="G5448"\w* \w their|strong="G2532"\w* own ideas, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \w makes|strong="G5448"\w* \w them|strong="G3588"\w* feel smart. \w But|strong="G2532"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* tell \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* \w not|strong="G3367"\w* smart, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w then|strong="G2532"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* tell \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* show \w respect|strong="G3739"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w*’s angel messengers, \w as|strong="G1722"\w* \w if|strong="G2532"\w* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* angels \w are|strong="G3588"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w*. \w But|strong="G2532"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* trying \w to|strong="G2532"\w* trick \w you|strong="G5210"\w*. Don’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* \w take|strong="G2532"\w* \w any|strong="G3367"\w* notice \w of|strong="G5259"\w* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* \w people|strong="G4561"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* don’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* believe \w those|strong="G3588"\w* lies.  
\v 19 \w They|strong="G2532"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* trying \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w have|strong="G2532"\w* \w a|strong="G2532"\w* church \w without|strong="G2532"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G2532"\w*.  
\p \w You|strong="G3739"\w* see, \w God|strong="G2316"\w* \w set|strong="G2532"\w* \w the|strong="G2532"\w* church \w up|strong="G1537"\w* like \w this|strong="G3588"\w*. \w Jesus|strong="G2532"\w* \w is|strong="G3588"\w* \w the|strong="G2532"\w* \w head|strong="G2776"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w his|strong="G3956"\w* \w people|strong="G3956"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* \w his|strong="G3956"\w* \w body|strong="G4983"\w*. \w Jesus|strong="G2532"\w* \w holds|strong="G2902"\w* \w his|strong="G3956"\w* \w people|strong="G3956"\w* \w together|strong="G4822"\w* \w just|strong="G2532"\w* like \w a|strong="G2532"\w* \w body|strong="G4983"\w* \w has|strong="G2316"\w* joints \w and|strong="G2532"\w* ligament strings \w that|strong="G3739"\w* \w hold|strong="G2902"\w* \w it|strong="G2532"\w* \w together|strong="G4822"\w*. \w And|strong="G2532"\w* \w God|strong="G2316"\w* makes \w the|strong="G2532"\w* church grow, \w just|strong="G2532"\w* like \w he|strong="G2532"\w* makes \w bodies|strong="G4983"\w* grow.\x * \xo 2:19 \xt Ephesians 4:16\x*

\v 20 Remember \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w you|strong="G1487"\w* \w are|strong="G3588"\w* \w joined|strong="G4862"\w* \w to|strong="G1722"\w* Jesus \w Christ|strong="G5547"\w*. \w It|strong="G1487"\w* \w is|strong="G3588"\w* \w like|strong="G5613"\w* \w you|strong="G1487"\w* \w died|strong="G3588"\w* \w with|strong="G1722"\w* \w him|strong="G3588"\w* \w when|strong="G5613"\w* \w he|strong="G3588"\w* \w died|strong="G3588"\w*. \w You|strong="G1487"\w* don’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* belong \w to|strong="G1722"\w* \w this|strong="G3588"\w* \w world|strong="G2889"\w* \w any|strong="G1487"\w* more, \w so|strong="G5613"\w* \w you|strong="G1487"\w* don’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* \w have|strong="G5101"\w* \w to|strong="G1722"\w* follow \w the|strong="G1722"\w* laws \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* \w people|strong="G3588"\w* \w of|strong="G1722"\w* \w this|strong="G3588"\w* \w world|strong="G2889"\w* make \w up|strong="G1722"\w* \w about|strong="G5613"\w* \w God|strong="G3588"\w*.  
\v 21 \w They|strong="G3361"\w* \w have|strong="G3361"\w* laws like, “Don’t use \w that|strong="G3361"\w* thing,” \w and|strong="G3366"\w*, “Don’t \w eat|strong="G1089"\w* \w that|strong="G3361"\w*,” \w and|strong="G3366"\w*, “Don’t \w touch|strong="G2345"\w* \w that|strong="G3361"\w* thing.”  
\v 22 \w Those|strong="G3588"\w* laws \w just|strong="G2532"\w* \w come|strong="G1510"\w* \w from|strong="G2532"\w* \w people|strong="G3956"\w*, \w not|strong="G1510"\w* \w from|strong="G2532"\w* \w God|strong="G2532"\w*, \w so|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G3739"\w* don’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* \w have|strong="G2532"\w* \w to|strong="G1519"\w* \w take|strong="G2532"\w* \w any|strong="G3956"\w* notice \w of|strong="G2532"\w* \w them|strong="G3588"\w*. \w Those|strong="G3588"\w* laws \w are|strong="G1510"\w* \w just|strong="G2532"\w* \w about|strong="G2596"\w* \w things|strong="G3956"\w* \w that|strong="G3739"\w* wear \w out|strong="G2532"\w* \w when|strong="G2532"\w* \w people|strong="G3956"\w* \w use|strong="G3588"\w* \w them|strong="G3588"\w*.

\v 23 \w Those|strong="G3588"\w* laws \w might|strong="G2532"\w* sound \w like|strong="G4314"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* \w good|strong="G3588"\w*, \w but|strong="G2532"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* useless. \w They|strong="G2532"\w* \w get|strong="G2192"\w* \w people|strong="G1510"\w* \w to|strong="G4314"\w* \w do|strong="G2532"\w* \w things|strong="G3588"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* hurt \w their|strong="G2532"\w* \w bodies|strong="G4983"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w then|strong="G2532"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* \w think|strong="G5100"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* \w good|strong="G3588"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* \w think|strong="G5100"\w* \w it|strong="G2532"\w* makes \w God|strong="G2532"\w* happy. \w But|strong="G2532"\w* \w even|strong="G2532"\w* \w when|strong="G2532"\w* \w people|strong="G1510"\w* try \w to|strong="G4314"\w* follow \w those|strong="G3588"\w* laws, \w they|strong="G2532"\w* still can’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* stop \w themselves|strong="G1722"\w* \w from|strong="G2532"\w* \w going|strong="G2532"\w* wrong. \w Their|strong="G2532"\w* \w bodies|strong="G4983"\w* still \w make|strong="G2532"\w* \w them|strong="G3588"\w* want \w to|strong="G4314"\w* \w do|strong="G2532"\w* bad \w things|strong="G3588"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w then|strong="G2532"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* \w do|strong="G2532"\w* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* bad \w things|strong="G3588"\w*. \w So|strong="G2532"\w* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* laws \w are|strong="G1510"\w* useless.

\s1 Think about heaven, and live God’s way

\v 1-3 You see, you have new life now from Jesus Christ. He is up in heaven now, sitting with God, at God’s right-hand side.\x * \xo 3:1-3 \xt Psalm 110:1\x* He is a powerful boss there with God. Remember that Jesus died, then God made him alive again, and God lifted him up from the grave. Well, you believe in Jesus now, so you have to be better than you used to be. It is like you died with him, and then God made you alive again, and now you live for Jesus. He is in heaven now, so you always have to think about doing good things that belong to heaven. Don’t think about doing bad things that belong to this earth. You are joined to Jesus Christ now, and he is joined to God. The people of this world can’t see that yet,  
\v 4 \w but|strong="G2532"\w* \w when|strong="G3752"\w* \w Jesus|strong="G2532"\w* \w comes|strong="G2532"\w* back, everyone \w will|strong="G2532"\w* see \w him|strong="G3588"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* \w will|strong="G2532"\w* see \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w he|strong="G2532"\w* \w is|strong="G3588"\w* \w great|strong="G2532"\w*. \w And|strong="G2532"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* \w will|strong="G2532"\w* see \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w too|strong="G2532"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w will|strong="G2532"\w* \w be|strong="G2532"\w* \w great|strong="G2532"\w* \w too|strong="G2532"\w*.   
\s1 Do what is right, don’t do what is wrong

\v 5 \w So|strong="G3767"\w* \w now|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G1510"\w* \w have|strong="G2532"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* stop doing \w bad|strong="G2556"\w* \w things|strong="G3588"\w*. \w If|strong="G2532"\w* \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w bad|strong="G2556"\w* \w part|strong="G2532"\w* inside \w you|strong="G1510"\w* wants \w you|strong="G1510"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w do|strong="G2532"\w* \w something|strong="G1510"\w* \w bad|strong="G2556"\w*, don’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* \w do|strong="G2532"\w* \w it|strong="G2532"\w*. \w It|strong="G2532"\w*’s like \w you|strong="G1510"\w* \w have|strong="G2532"\w* \w to|strong="G2532"\w* kill \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w old|strong="G2532"\w* \w bad|strong="G2556"\w* \w part|strong="G2532"\w* inside \w you|strong="G1510"\w*. Don’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* listen \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w it|strong="G2532"\w*. Don’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* sleep \w with|strong="G2532"\w* anyone \w that|strong="G3588"\w* \w is|strong="G1510"\w* \w not|strong="G1510"\w* \w your|strong="G2532"\w* wife \w or|strong="G2532"\w* \w your|strong="G2532"\w* husband, \w as|strong="G2532"\w* \w if|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G1510"\w* \w are|strong="G1510"\w* married \w to|strong="G2532"\w* \w them|strong="G3588"\w*. \w And|strong="G2532"\w* don’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* think \w bad|strong="G2556"\w*, dirty thoughts. Don’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* think \w about|strong="G1909"\w* doing \w bad|strong="G2556"\w* \w things|strong="G3588"\w*. Don’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* \w be|strong="G1510"\w* greedy, wanting lots \w of|strong="G2532"\w* money \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w things|strong="G3588"\w*. Greedy \w people|strong="G1510"\w* respect money \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w things|strong="G3588"\w* \w more|strong="G2532"\w* \w than|strong="G2532"\w* \w they|strong="G2532"\w* respect \w God|strong="G2532"\w*.  
\v 6 \w You|strong="G3739"\w* know, \w some|strong="G3739"\w* \w people|strong="G3588"\w* \w will|strong="G2316"\w* \w not|strong="G3739"\w* \w do|strong="G1223"\w* \w what|strong="G3739"\w* \w God|strong="G2316"\w* says, \w and|strong="G2064"\w* \w he|strong="G3739"\w* \w will|strong="G2316"\w* \w be|strong="G2316"\w* angry \w with|strong="G1223"\w* \w those|strong="G3588"\w* \w people|strong="G3588"\w*, \w and|strong="G2064"\w* \w he|strong="G3739"\w* \w will|strong="G2316"\w* punish \w them|strong="G3588"\w*.

\v 7 \w At|strong="G1722"\w* \w one|strong="G3739"\w* \w time|strong="G4218"\w*, \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w lived|strong="G2198"\w* \w the|strong="G1722"\w* wrong \w way|strong="G1722"\w*, \w and|strong="G2532"\w* \w you|strong="G5210"\w* \w did|strong="G2532"\w* bad \w things|strong="G3778"\w* like \w that|strong="G3739"\w*.  
\v 8 \w But|strong="G1161"\w* \w now|strong="G1161"\w*, don’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* \w do|strong="G2532"\w* \w these|strong="G3956"\w* bad \w things|strong="G3956"\w* \w any|strong="G3956"\w* \w more|strong="G2532"\w*. Don’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* \w get|strong="G2532"\w* \w angry|strong="G2372"\w* easily. Don’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* \w go|strong="G2532"\w* around \w angry|strong="G2372"\w* \w and|strong="G2532"\w* yelling \w at|strong="G1537"\w* \w people|strong="G3956"\w*. Don’\w t|strong="G3588"\w* hate \w people|strong="G3956"\w* \w or|strong="G2532"\w* think \w about|strong="G3588"\w* giving \w them|strong="G3588"\w* \w trouble|strong="G2549"\w*.
